Too late, rumours already started!I think DA was referring to Reid's current length of time out, not a fresh injury

Any word on what happened to Nick Smith?

Yup into his back they sayHammy.
Predicted based on last week:
Heath Grundy - Personal reasons - TBC
Matthew Ling - Toe - Season
Jack Maibaum - Knee - 3-4 weeks
Harry Marsh - Hamstring - 2 weeks
Lewis Melican - Hamstring - 4-5 weeks
Callum Mills - Foot - Season
Sam Reid - Achilles - 2-3 weeks
Gary Rohan - Hand? - TBC
Sam Naismith - Knee - Season
Alex Johnson - Knee - Season
Nick Smith - Hamstring? - TBC
Joel Amartey - ??? - TBC
Jordan Foote - ??? - TBC
Toby Pink - ??? - TBC
Kurt Tippett - retired
So potentially up to 15 players unavailable for selection. Depends what happens with Grundy if he is available. Foote and Pink missing off reporting no don’t know much about them.
Amartey apparently was in a moon boot so could be curtains for 2018 for him.
More importantly, of the key position players on our list, we have 6 available out of 15 (including rucks).
5/6 of those are in the senior side currently (Buddy, McCartin, Sinclair, Aliir, Rampe with Cameron in NEAFL).
9 out being: Grundy, Melican, Maibaum, Amartey, Pink, Johnson, Reid, Naismith, Tippett
Added to that these guys can play taller are also out. Marsh, Mills, Rohan.
So in effect our NEAFL team this weekend will have only one listed player over 190cm who will be playing ruck.
Hopefully Grundys health has improved and touch wood we don’t get anymore injuries to talls!
Reid 1-2 surely?
Unfortunately I think I agree with you.I would personally plan going forward without Reid in the best 22 in 19
If he plays it’s a bonus
Just never know with him
Mccartin is the new CHF imo
Agree, his body is just too unreliable. Reckon this will be what it's like for the rest of his career at the club. I guess some people just aren't made for footy.I would personally plan going forward without Reid in the best 22 in 19

Of course he playsIf Reid is fit though he will be in the seniors. We aren’t going to pay him $500-600k or whatever to play NEAFL if he is available.
I’ve said all along though that I’d play all three of Buddy, Reid and McCartin if available.
All mobile talls who apply pressure.
You say that as if it is a bad thing... what does it matter if he does struggle?Reid will struggle to play 180-200 games imo
Go back to an old school approach over the summer and get him out on the road putting miles on the clock. Toughen up and strengthen his calves and Hammys with long distance endurance. Get off bowling green surfaces doing interval athletic training and start hardening his muscles up and get the muscles used to being put under stress for long periods. Old fashioned ? Maybe but some of these modern day training techniques and the wrapping in cotton wool of our footballers who are referred to as athletes does more harm than good imo. They are Footballers FFS not 100 meter sprinters. Trying something different can't hurt.I would actually like to see Reid on the wing and leave the forward line as is. Let him chop out in the ruck.
Yeh yeh he is made of tissue paper but what difference does it make?
I played league with a guy like that, real good player, we his him outside or at fullback. We eventually said screw it back row for you and have a crack. Turned out the more physical it got the better.
No idea why maybe just luck but if Reid is going to get injured looking in the mirror why not give something else a crack.
