Injury 2018 Injury Thread

Seems he’s super durable and never misses many games. It’s just that his output declines significantly if he’s carrying any knock (which is usually about 75% of games lately). Probably better to rest him for two or three games to get him right rather than have him attempt to soldier on (if rest actually helps).

that’s my general perception on him. Not sure if he’s currently carrying anything
Pretty sure the training guys and Hagdorn have noted that he has just been pumping out laps lately. I think it is soft tissue. Supposedly got a fitness test on Wednesday which I assume he didn't pass.

Yep - I recall that now. Hopefully they get him 100% before rolling him out. If he can recapture his form from those early rounds last year as an inside/outside mid, we could be dangerous.

Okay so this sort of explains who's on the Fringe injury wise, Kersten looks set to appear in JLT 1. Unless he's one of the 4 axed....

Still a lot of question marks around Apeness and his ability to get on the park. Which is a shame, but this is a crucial year for him....break out or bust

Freo put up our injury news today: 4 players on the injury list but they only give info on 3. I'm guessing the 4th in Bennell
http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/news/2018-02-27/injury-update-sutcliffe-a-test-

Sutcliffe (Concussion) - Test
Darcy (Calf) - Test
Spurr (Knee) - Test

Nope, if you go to the usual injury spot on the website the last person is S Hill who is still 1 week away with his calf injury. Bit of a worry when last year leg injuries stopped him in his tracks.

Bennell does not even rate a mention on the injury list even though he is clearly injured at the moment, he is the invisible man!!!!

Still, I can't recall such a minor injury list heading into a season.

Why did Strnadica, Jones, Switkowski and Nyhuis (apologies if I’m wrong on any of these players) not play WAFL practice match on the weekend? I call BS and not just because of Bennell.

Got a feeling they were restricting the number of AFL Peel players especially as Perth was basically playing a second 18 (though difficult to tell from best 18 some times!!)

There is a difference between being injured and prepared to play at this time of the season.

Some guys are coming from a little further back and are best to build up for another couple of weeks before playing, especially at this time of the year. I would suggest that is definetly the case for Switkowski.

Whilst I understand this difference the club hasn’t always been accurate at reporting injuries in the past often missing players on short term/minor injuries who’d only play for Peel anyway. Maybe a few of these guys will be in action on limited minutes this weekend.

now that you've mentioned the invisible man,

So is any one going to make the early claim that a full preseason at Cockburn has seen a remarkable reduction in soft tissue injury.

Just saying.
Seemed to be a much more relaxed preseason. Maybe they have eased back on the loads. Fit & available over hard edged & broken.

C'mon guys, where's the positivity? That's a pretty good injury list. It's even possible we head into round 1 without a single player on our injury list.

Certainly beats (about) this time last year:
