Injury 2018 Injury Updates

Poor Blacky, hope his leg’s not too bad.

Also from Scott's presser - Black was sore, and gave him full credit for how he conducted himself after the injury but returning to the bench to support teammates & sign autographs etc

Said its unfortunate for Black as he had been in our bets 10 players the last couple of weeks, but until he has scans they won't know the extent of the injury - it could be a case of just being sore and he is ok to go, or there could be further damage but they are unsure at this stage

Crameri very unlikely to play this week. Sounds like he should be good to go after the bye.

“Sporting a bloodshot and black right eye, Crameri, who visited an eye specialist yesterday, is still yet to regain full vision.

He told K rock’s Fresh Daily that he’s unlikely to play either against Port Melbourne in the VFL this Saturday or be recalled to Geelong’s AFL side for Sunday’s blockbuster against Richmond.

“They said maybe 50-50 (chance of playing) but I think it’s pretty slim,” Crameri said.

“I’m struggling to see correctly and that’s always an issue when you can’t see.

“So maybe a week off and then we’ve got the bye after that.”

Here's a continuation of my earlier post. I've compiled this list of best 22 players missing each week. I think we are doing a great job to be sitting 4th with this list. Still not including McCarthy. While he is a best 22 player, has played 4 games in nearly 2 years so he can't be counted as a regular AFL Player.
What are the chances of Menzel, SSelwood, Cockatoo and McCarthy being fit and firing altogether for the finals? 0.012%

Round 1 - Melbourne
Henderson, Cockatoo, SSelwood, Dangerfield

Round 2 - Hawthorn
Henderson, Taylor, SSelwood, Duncan

Round 3 - West Coast
Henderson, Taylor, Duncan

Round 4 - St Kilda
Henderson, Taylor, Ablett, Guthrie, Cockatoo

Round 5 - Port Adelaide
Henderson, Taylor, Ablett, Guthrie, Cockatoo

Round 6 - Sydney

Gosh, I remember the melts on here after we lost to Sydney. Look how many we had out, no wonder we ran out of legs in the last quarter.

Scary list you've compiled there, CoolCat75.

And it doesn't even account for all the players we've lost during games over the course of the season either.

In the end, you have to conclude we look to be seriously overachieving based on available personnel so far in 2018.

I've loved the boys efforts this year, but I don't give them a free pass for that. Against West Coast in the heat, over there, with two of our game's best performers down (Ablett and Cockatoo) was one where I forgave them falling away. But 4 goals up in the last quarter, with comparatively a manageable situation (just GHS down), at our fortress and providing no real resistance when the tide turned - the manner of that one stung. Imagine if we took the points that day, would be huge given current ladder positions. The response since has been good besides the Essendon game.

Add McCarthy to that round 12.

True. We’ve been competitive in every game this year except the Essendon game. I’m pretty happy with that to be honest with our injury list.

But I completely agree it’s not a free pass losing those games you mentioned when we were in a really good position to win. We should have flogged the eagles as our 1st half was absolutely horrific.

Great list.

Does that include players we lost.during the game?

No it doesn’t. goyoucatters mentioned something similar above. Maybe someone can have a crack? For memory the list would include Taylor, Henry, Gazza, Cocky, Guthrie, SSelwood, GHS

Ah cool. If I get a chance I'll have a crack later today.

Thats fair, not so much a free pass but I can see why we lost though and i agree it would have been huge to win that game. The way i see it is that team we fielded against Sydney was the 3rd youngest in the league, yes we were in a position to win but with so many young players I feel they didn't have the same tank our more experienced players do and thus faded late. Dangerfield, Duncan and Selwood were good without being great that game so the load was being carried by those younger less consistent players.

Harry taylor actually snapped his plantar fascia at training a few weeks ago while running. So that means he should have no more issue with it from here on in, as snapping it relieves the pressure.

I’m sure a lot of us remember the story of robert harvey, jumping off stairs at his house to try to snap it so he could come back and play.
