Pretty sure Scott said a week or so ago he most likely would have, so the plan was to train him over the bye so he's ready to play at some level this coming weekend.
Thanks for that .. Be interesting to see what there plans are on him. Will they play him 1 game in the VFL when bring him in.. . Time will tell.

It's right about now that I'm starting to like the bye between the end of the H@A and the start of the finals,it could be critical for Stewart.
Jelwood did not recover from a similar (in description) injury this time last year, but each ankle is different

GOOD NEWS FOR STEWART, CATS

GEELONG has received a positive prognosis on Tom Stewart’s ankle injury with the gun defender expected to return before the end of the home-and-away season.

But the gun defender is certain to miss Friday night’s blockbuster against Richmond at the MCG and remains in doubt for the following week’s Round 21 clash against Hawthorn.

But scans have cleared the South Barwon product of major damage, likely paving way for Stewart’s return in about three weeks.”

I’m not sure why ppl were dismissive of him last night, he has no reason to lie and has close insight into the club
I think it was probably just because it would be unusual for a player to have the scans done that quickly.
Was just about to write that, usually they wait for the initial swelling to go down before any scans which are usually done a few days after.

Fantastic news and hopefully we can cover him for the next few weeks

Would that suggest that the swelling was minimal, perhaps?

People see a bloke in a moonboot and tend to freak out. But the moonboot doesn’t automatically mean something is serious, it just makes sense to take every precaution possible. Take the pressure off the ankle straight away and start it healing.

“Syndosmosis” or whatever it’s called is seemingly thrown out instantly by the media whenever anybody rolls an ankle these days.

*Tweet comes out tomorrow*
“Gun defender Tom Stewart has had surgery on his injured ankle and will miss the rest of the season. Further scans showed that the ankle was actually f***ed”.

:p

ice him already for this week and have him cherry for the Hawks game.

6 days vs 13 days..

no brainer for me.

Go Catters

I would be happy for him to miss the GC and Freo games also if it mean getting him right.

CS said tonight not 100% sure.
WILL play before finals, but unlikely this Friday.

I remember Fraser Brown did a nasty ankle in the 95 Prelim, but got up up play a huge role against us in the GF a week later.
