Richmond

Richmond again will field a near full-strength side, when it takes on North Melbourne in Wednesday night’s JLT Community Series clash at Ikon Park.

The Tigers have selected 19 members of their 2017 premiership side in a 26-man squad for the final pre-season hit-out, which will kick off at 7.05pm.

There are four changes to the Richmond team that defeated Essendon by 87 points in the opening JLT Community Series match at Wangaratta on February 24.

Premiership defender Nathan Broad, clever utility Sam Lloyd, talented, tall rookie forward Callum Moore and rookie ruckman Ivan Soldo come into the line-up, replacing Bachar Houli (calf soreness) and promising, young trio Jack Higgins, Mabior Chol and Ryan Garthwaite.

The three missing 2017 premiership players are Houli, Daniel Rioli (recovering from a broken foot sustained in the Grand Final) and Dion Prestia (minor hamstring injury).

North Melbourne

North will welcome back four fan favourites from injuries in Mason Wood, Taylor Garner, Braydon Preuss and Jy Simpkin, while rookie Tom Murphy is in line to make his debut in the royal blue and white.

20-year-old Tom Murphy could feature for the first time since being drafted with North’s first pick in last year’s Rookie Draft

After sitting out JLT 1, Preuss will have his first run since AFLX last month, and will be given the chance to make his case for Round 1

Mason Wood (thumb), Taylor Garner (knee) and Jy Simpkin (ankle) are all likely to return from their respective injuries, and as a result, will change North’s look inside forward 50.

Keen to watch Brandon Ellis tonight, reckon he goes up a step this year. Disappointed not getting to see Higgins from Richmond too.

From North similarly want to see Ryan Clarke improve on his move to defence last year. LDU for obvious reasons and keen to see Mitch Hibberd hopefully get some game time, did some good things in the VFL last year, hope he stays injury free. Keen to see Jy Simpkin play more this year too.

Both teams fairly close to full strength, a lot will come down to the usual practice match stuff...trying out tactics and positions, as well as players playing 'injury free' football.

You'd think it'd be fairly one sided, but from reading the North board, it seems Richmond doesn't have anyone who is any good, so surely they'll get up....right?

Should be a reasonable clash. Wouldn't be expecting a blow out early.

Was only 5 minutes ago they were North's bitches.

Usually takes scott coached teams a while to warm into mediocrity but after last weeks embarrassing showing in Hobart/better selections the tigers will have a game on.

One point of interest (and my only real concern for the match) is the testing of the "ruck isn't important to our game plan" by pitting a supposedly fit and firing Goldstein against Chol and Soldo.

You're not dreading this 'dream' bubble to burst in general?

Did that even happen.

Nank is playing, but no Chol IIRC.
