2018 Lions Reserves and NEAFL thread

Just wondering if there’s a drop off in interest amongst the blokes who’ve been toiling away in the seconds all year without getting a senior look-in. So, so lacklustre today. Cox and Hinge best for mine. Abysmal game of football.

That is what I was about to ask.

19pt loss in the end: Lions 6.10, Aspley 9.11 (5.5 to 3 in the last quarter not a good sign for our fitness & desire.) Lions goals: Bastinac 2, Hinge, Paparone, Cox and Sloan. Did all of our senior emergencies play: Bell, Walker, Keays and Mayes?

If you are ever tempted to watch the highlights of this game, don’t. No good can come of it.

Beams was competent, Hinge worked hard, Cox showed glimpses. A couple of the extras were handy. Not much else stood out.

Someone commented that this game was to footy what that awful powdered milk from the seventies and eighties was to real cow’s milk. It kind of looks the same as the real thing...but it isn’t. And it leaves a bitter taste.

Aspley won but winning is a relative term in a game this poor. Really, they just had a few more moments of moderately skilful footy than us. But neither team should take any glory out of this game.

To give you a sense of the dismal quality of this game: Lester and Keays would have made it a significantly better game to watch.

I think we just really latched onto the notion of him being a "steal of the draft" but the reality is hes a Bewick style kind of player.

On a positive note, Skinner is looking fit. Eagles still looks sore but fairly mobile. Bewick was the runner.

Fullerton will need to start getting some bulk on him fairly quickly but he is a good height.
