2018 Lions Reserves and NEAFL thread

A preseason in the gym & he will be primed for busting tackles in the seniors the same way he does ressies

Exactly - he was getting caught occasionally in the seniors trying to beat tacklers which is what we want him to do, he just has to get a bit stronger and adjust to the level of competition.

Look at how McCluggage was last year compared to this year where he is already much stronger. I've got high hopes for Zach if he can get an uninterrupted summer in the gym.

Some bloody good moves here from Bailey:

I just hope he doesnt become one of those Elite NEAFL, standard AFL type players

Jeez, glass half empty or what. 18 years old, first season running rings around them and finishing his work. Every club would have him top 20 in the draft just on that 2 minutes.

Thats what l am hoping as well. Reminded me a bit of Keays in that he always looked rushed when he had the ball. However the one thing going for him that Keays doesn't have his elite speed

Looked rushed? Had all the time in the world, and used it well.

Jesus he looked good there. Very good. Perhaps a recall this week?

I thought he might be done for the season, but on the back of that performance, a strong chance, IMO.

I wouldn’t be worried about him only being a standard type player. It’s his first year.

This. Gun in the making. :thumbsu:

isn't claye on the rookie list ? needs a long term injury to get a gig in the seniors
I thought they changed the rule so Rookie's can play seniors. Both Oscar and Matt Eagles have played this year as Rookies and Charlie Cameron, Tom Bell and Jack Payne would be on the long term injury list.

I didnt say I THOUGHT it would happen. Im confident he'll certainly make it. Ive just...seen so many false dawns this last decade+ that Im cautious for my optimism.

A part of me saw Banfield and Patty K as 200+ gamers for us and...well that proved wrong :(

Based on the Suns team it could be another goalless game for them. Good to see McFadyen back to try and get into Knightmares top 5.

And we get a stream

Gold Coast are basically playing their academy team. All their ins, except for Scrimshaw, played in the QLD U17 futures team last weekend.

I don't think getting high possessions at NEAFL level has been the problem for Bewick, Beams, Bastinac, Lester and Barrett. They seem to have done that fairly consistently. It's how they perform in other areas that the coaches are worried about.

So annoying. Looks pretty even so far. No Lester on the stats list

I'm not sure why we persist playing Mayes down back. I don't think he has a future playing there

The suns quick ball movement looks pretty dangerous against our old, slow plodders
