IF lynch goes to Richmond then that’s 1.5 plus 1.3ish for Martin, salary cap dosent look to good for the rest of the team.Good luck.
Depends....
They may have given dusty 2 million last year on his 1st year of many. They could have 2 million spare next year after they clean out a couple of players.
A good list manager could do it

You realise they can do that because they already have a good core of talented mature players to build around?

We will he in the same position only in 4-5 years where guys like doc, cripps and our recent high draft picks are in their mid 20s. Then we can follow their tactic of trading in players and drafting mature age players.
Doc is 24 - Cripps is 23 - Kreuzer is 28.... Charlie is 21 .. the complacency around the rebuild as an excuse albeit a fair and good excuse(for now) Geelong made top four in their fifth year from their 1999 beginnings. Bulldogs pretty much the same and with GWS etc...

How complacent do you want to be before we fall in the Saints, Melbourne, North category that rebuilds forever.. not all rebuilds are guaranteed to work and applying some pressure on the decision makers to start performing above and beyond I don't view as a bad thing.

Need to see some small improvement in our kids - my expectation is outperforming a little bit from last year and see incremental improvements - not many are doing that and some have regressed. This is the concern for now. Hopefully it improves later in the year. It has to.

1) North didn't rebuild, they topped up
2) Melbourne failed the initial rebuild by getting rid of all their senior players and sacking coaches. They will be ok now.
3) saints appear to have borked their rebuild through their draft choices.... But there is still time to rectify that

Prestia went there for the money, dusty is the highest paid player in the league.. Lynch will cost a bomb.

There will be a fair amount of displacement.
Prestia could have had a fair chunk paid in his first year. Dusty the same the following year.

If lynch goes there, players will disappear. Doesn't always happen in the 1st year though depending on how good they have worked their list payments.

Players possibly to be pushed out the door over the next 3 years (mainly due to age):
Grigg 30
Jack R 30 in october
Edwards 30 in October
Houli 30 in May

Players id suggest will be gone pretty soon:
Hampson
Lloyd
And a few we don't probably know.

Also think Ben Griffiths was included in this years TPP and wont be next year.

If they want lynch, they will be fine imo. Yes a player or 2 will go but it wont be panic stations

Each team starts from a different base. Think the Cats had some good players running around and finished 5th in 1999 with 10 wins. Its a big difference compared to us so i fail to see why we are bringing other teams into it.

We arent geelong. There was 16 teams back in 1999 which is what you're basing this on. Drafts have been comprimised. FA is now in and it seems the higher clubs get the FAs.

We arent doing anything wrong. Yes we want the younger players to come on quick but through lots of reason, it isnt at your pace.

Many players don't win premiership. Id say its acceptable for some players. Charlie is 21 and weits is 20. I very much doubt that 4 years from now if we haven't won a premiership they will be filthy.

I would love them to win a premiership asap. But im also a realist. We have very little depth. Nothing of note in the vfl 2-3 years back. Hawthorn, Geelong and even Richmond had players better than ours. And they could see much more potential with their group than ours.

Its no coincidence Richmond's vfl team went well last year. You cant just trade in 3 or 4 players with the player's we had and expect finals.
Wasnt the question. It was win a final.

Most teams dont win a premiership first time into the finals. Takes a few cracks at it.

He was asking if have barely made finals and gotten knocked straight out out in 4 years, would that be acceptable?

My initial reaction is no. But it is situational. Injuries etc can play a huge part. Lets face it though we want to be top8 in 2020.

Of course we do. But i think we all know SOS wont take short cuts. Lets just keep supporting the club and the direction they have taken.

So many on here are quick to say its wrong. But fact is, it cannot be judged yet.

There is no rush. It comes down to getting it right

SOS has a plan. He has spent no money in 3 years. He has recruited average players to on average money to tread water while we get games in to our kids.

We are paying SFA to the majority of our ‘recruits’.
Pickett
ASOS
Jones
Lamb
Kerridge
Phillips
Plow
O’Shea
Mullett
Kennedy
Lang
Daisy (his new 1 year deal)

Marchbank will be paid ok, but nothing silly.

He has freed up the cash to sign up our kids and recruit A graders when the time is right. The average players will be weaned out over the next few years.

We will go hard at a RFA this year..

Moneyball targets at the end of this year?

- Wallis (FA)
- Sproule (uncontracted)

Any younger guys (20-23) down the depth chart on stronger teams that could play a role or legitimately bolster our depth moving forward (i.e. a Lang type)?

I think Wallis would be a good fit, but would he really leave the bulldogs?

We don't need depth players. We need to find players that will make us a top 8 team. If they can't make a top 8 team then why do we need them?

Wallis will add very little improvement to the team. If we are going for FA then go all out for a Gaff who will definitely improve the team.
