Trade jones ??
Lol not this year
Yes, it’s crazy talk.
It's a perfect time to trade Jones, even though if he was at Sydney, he may look like a superstar.
Sydney aren't going to follow on with Grundy and desperately require a key back. We need more mids. Jones for Lloyd would be an easy deal.

If we are indeed chasing Collins, then you have to ask yourself why?
We have Jones. We will have Macreadie coming on and then there's Weitering & Marchbank, even if Rowe and ASilvagni are to be moved on.

We can't just keep stocking up on back-men for the fun of it. You have to eventually consolidate.
True
We need mids with speed
And the best player in draft
From 'LOL crazy talk' to 'true', Harks, you're a master debater.

I would be astounded if LeBois isnt in the first round of delistings along with JGM.

With our lack of senior bodies, I wont be surprised if Graham and Kerridge get another year, but it's 50/50 for each of them as well.
As I have said before I expect around 8-12 changes this year. I expect all of our younger players to be on the list for another season.

Total changes will very much depend upon what we bring in during trade/FA period.

Given our list status and what we are trying to achieve I believe these names are the most likely to go

Lamb
Rowe or ASOS
Mullett
O'Shea
Graham
Thomas
JGM
Shaw

Borderline

Kerridge
Wright
Lobbe

That is effectively a group of players that are at the end of had enough chances. No real loss in any of them

Replace them with better FA's Trades and draftees and it should really improve our list

I think Lobbe may stay in support of Phillips & Kruezer
One of Rowe or ASOS to stay unless we get someone like Collins

Prepare to be astounded.
Is Hall really 28 ?
****, if he is, a no from me too. Have a feeling he is not. Horrendous research if so.
If only there was a way we could find out.

As long as Weitering and Marchbank arn't capable of playing on gun forwards I can't see how Jones is a negative.
If he is part of a trade for a very good player than fair enough but I wouldn't say it's a great move until we can rely on Marchbank or Weitering to do a job on a gun forward

Soapy V If you know tell me and if you don't, can you find out: What are the contract statuses of Mullett, O'Shea and Lobbe?
The others are definitely right, including Simpson but generally speaking:

Mullett: We'd give 2 years to DFA. Not necessarily but usually.
O'Shea: To my reckoning, it's 2 years for anyone picked up in the PSD. same as for the ND.
Lobbe: Did he have only one year left on his contract, when he came to us?

I'd like us not to be silly enough to keep paying players out. That's simply money down the drain and reflects that a mistake has been made.

Would trade Jones if there were a few clubs asking for him. If they only offered pick 50 I would tell them to GAGF but if it was a mid round second round pick or something like Aaron Hall for Jones plus Nick Graham I would do it.
If you look in the dictionary under one way runner, you will find Hall's picture. The absolute definition of a one way runner. Completely unaccountable defensively.

He has to get the trainers to turn him around whenever a goal is kicked or else he gets stuck at one end of the ground.

People might laugh at this but we have missed ASOS this year for the simple fact he is a big body who plays one on one.Marchbank and Weitering are floaters/Intercept markers that’s what there good at.Asking them to defend one on one is not their go IMO.Its the domino effect.

Honestly don't know.

My comments are based on my thoughts and what I see. Of course other issues including contracts may well come in to it. IMO if SOS believes he can improve the list by paying someone out early (and adding to our Salary Cap) then he will do it.

I'm just trying to read the tea leaves. I have no issue whatever happens

I think Weitering plays his best as a one on one defender. When confident his body positioning and reading the ball in flight is Rance like. We started to see it again last week.

Truer words never spoken.
So do we keep him even though he's only played about 6 games in 2 years?

I think his problem is when he plays on someone who leads upto the ball he always seems to be 5m behind. He lacks that closing pace Rance has so he will always battle. For me he would be best playing a McGovern type role.
IMO we should be trying to turn Marchbank into a Rampe type and Weitering into a McGovern and let Weitering play more of an intercepting and rebounding role. I'd much prefer the majority our rebound coming from Weitering, Doc and hopefully Williamson than Marchbank

CD had Jack Sinclair on the wing in their team of the year for 2017, which is just silly. I am fully on-board with using stats and player ratings as an indicator, but one must also use your eyes and see the impact an individual has on the overall.

Jones definitely does plenty of good. I am of the view - which may well be wrong - we can build a better backline without him and his presence is disrupting Weitering's development (in particular).
Correct, Jones' style of play in my opinion would surely negatively impact our other defenders 'stats and ratings'. Jones works his butt off, does some terrific things, but from my eye, it's at the expense of our other players and structure at times.

Jones is doing his best for sure but his play style can be unpredictable. I think long term, ideally, Weiters and Marchbank are partnered with a true lockdown tall defender to optimise their talents.

I actually think we already have the tall defenders we need. Weiters, McReadie, and Marchbank are a formidable future defence.
