Love that we could get him cheaply, but once again, good effort

I would certainly take him cheaply. But the dons seem keen and they are hellbent on propping up their list to win their first final since 2004!

Who we are able to pick up in the October trade period will ultimately decide which young kid we will go for in the November draft ....if we are able to land three of gaff ,shiel, setterfield, wallis etc then we might be inclined to go for a lucozade who is the stand out talent from this years crop

Couple things....

One major injury does not equal injury prone.

As I've just posted in another thread, Brendan Goddard did an acl and look at him. If you're going to say 'stats say it doesn't bode well', then produce the stats. As Goddard did his in 2007 (fairly young in AFL terms) and now look at him. Dan Menzel did his very young and he's done very well.

From just a casual conversation from my friend working in the physio department at the swans it's definitely perceived as 'if a player is going to do a knee much prefer he does it earlier as the body is far more capable of healing quicker and stronger, whilst remaining flexible'

He also has Syndesmosis of the ankle …. was out for 10 weeks in 2017 with it. Now out for 12 months with an ACL. Also had shoulder issues. You would be taking a punt on a young bloke that has had significant injury concern during his very very short career.

He is essentially still a new draftee but with a history of injuries.

Now if I had the upmost faith in our sport medicine/rehab team … then sure it may well be worth the punt......

Sorry if it’s been discussed, but Paul Seedsman is still unsigned with the Crows. Adelaide posters starting to question what is going on with him. Would be a good get for us if he wanted to go back to Melbourne.

Yes, we cannot let this slip our minds, they've been dreadful.

Bingo. Well said.

Injuries play a huge role in how successful a team is. Just ask Richmond.

The pick Charlie was drafted with was swapped from Footscray for 2 x mid 20's picks (Dunkley&Collins).
Of course there are no guarantee's either way but logic suggests you get a better crack at the premium talent higher in the draft.

I think we got very lucky with that trade, i don't mind the idea of trading 2 second rounders but pick 14 is not exactly elite territory, its getting around the range where it might be better to take the two picks.

If Sydneys pick was 11 or 12 then it is a lot more appealing imo.

Selwood, Judd, Burton... probably many more. Injury prone before they got into the system. Had/ having good careers. I cbf doing the research and I’m drinking so I’m not gonna recall too many others.

Yup they cant legally bid on a player when they know it will breach TPP.

Where is this written MC? As if said player decided to stay then they are able to trade or delist others as the trade period is after the FA period.

The only time a club has to be under the salary cap for a certain year is in that year.

With the Hawks, Tigers and other big clubs going after Lynch, do you think they can fit the $$$ being offered in without trading players later ?here is no way, but it doesn't stop these clubs making the offer as you only need the room if they agree to come or in Shiels case stay.

If reports are true that they are under huge salary cap pressure, they wont be getting top picks for players they unfortunately need to let go of

Don't agree, Juddy. GWS will get good value for their trades.

Sure they may be under pressure to get deals done, but there will be enough demand that you won't see a firesale (unfortunately).

Doesn't specifically say a club can't match a bid disproportionately outside their cap … but its terms of reference are pretty clear in 17.5..

The AFL is aware the whole way of the "how much's", on behalf of both clubs competing.

All good SHT wasn't really a crack at you matey … just getting tired of bringing less than 100% fit players to the club. This is a cut throat game/business where less than a 10% drop of in outputs yield very unfavourable results ….
