I've not heard this from the few industry people that follow under 18 football closely.
Everything I heard to this point is about the elite talent in top 7 or 8 is as good as it gets in any year but the overall pool beyond the first 30 or so youngsters is nothing special at all. Hence if we are picking recycled types at 70 it fits in with pool talent not running deep to be grabbing several guys recycled as more likely than a draftee at pick 70ish.
Yeah, it’s my own view on the draft. Obviously not saying picks in the 70s are likely to pan out but I believe there’ll be more successful late or rookie picks this year than most other years.

Ok, thanks for clarifying it is your own view. I am surprised any of us outside the actual industry that work in it, can form our own specific view on how deep the draft runs. I personally can only judge it on what types that it is their job to know the likely talent each year. I rely on types like Shifter, Mick Turner and others that work with under 18 kids to give me a feel for what each draft pool holds. The strongest theme that came through on radio interviews with these types was there were 7 to 8 that in any other year would all be a number one pick but due to all in same pool there going to be special talent picked up at pick 7 this year that in normal years you would not expect. But never heard any theme of the talent at pick 70 is deeper that a normal draft pool. Most draft pools have about 30 kids that make a decent career of AFL. The super drafts tend to have more top 10 types become genuine champions like the Judd, Hodge, Ablett and Bartel type super drafts. This one is meant to rival that draft pool.

I cant wait for pick 7 to be a dud....:D
Crows or Swans?
I hope Crows stuff it up, would be a laugh to not only miss out on Luko and Rankine when so desperate but then blow their own pick up too and leave someone else to pick up the next best kid they had the chance to get.

I would Rookie both Silvagni and Goddard, take Bugg with the last pick if we are genuinely interested and feel he can do more than Jed Lamb did and if he’s turned his attitude around.

I’d like to keep Lamb and add Bugg. Both fill roles for a season or two
Goddard too

The top 7 or 8 is why we would entertain trading 1 but also why it would be insane for the Suns to do it.

Shame they sacked Clayton, he specialised in the insane.

Exactly. Been surprised how many actually thought a real trade was in play of 2 and 6 for pick 1 as an example. No club in this day and age are that stupid to give up to super picks just to upgrade to pick one itself. There maybe other years when top end of draft pool is deemed so thin, such trades are actually possible but this year a definite no.

Look at the Suns trade with the eagles last year and what they did with .Freo for Weller and it gives people hope I suppose but I can't see it happening.
