If you buy one of those raffle tickets and supply your phone number you effectively nullify being on the Do Not Call register?

I am on the register and I bought a ticket for an Animal Welfare League raffle. Woman at work was selling them. They hound me relentlessly with different phone numbers. It is like a ga.e if "Whack a Mole". I block one number they ring using another.

Charities are exempt from the Do Not Call Register. I am to the point of not answering my phone, especially around meal times when the overseas marketers, who are not bound by Oz regulations, are most likely to ring. I call people back if they leave a message. Saves a lot of time and angst.

Same. If my phone doesn't recognise the number, I don't answer. Simples.

Guys and Girls, sometimes it pays to be Old fashion.
Most of you have internet, and generally, most internet providers offer free local and National calls,
Never give out you Mobile line unless it an absolute must. you should be using your landline/internet phone with an answering machine.

Which internet providers offer free local and national calls?

Just of the top
Satellite- Hi Harbour, Southern there are more but I have to look.
Fixed line- Optus, DoDo Spintell, Hi Harbour, Southern, Internode, My Republic. Even Telstra have a deal.
NBN providers remove the ability to use a landline Phone so their routers allow you to run VoIP, and Most now offer this service free.
A lot of Providers offers the service with Broadband to keep their customers or gain new customers when they finally switch over to NBN. but you have to look harder to find these plans.
Providers will not tell you if you have an existing plan that there is a better deal. Optus and Telstra are famous for that.
I have not paid for local and national for about 3 years. thru Broadband and NBN. And most Phone these days allow VoIP
Also in a way, you do pay as it uses upload and download data, I have unlimited, so it pays to work out how much data you use when settling on a plan.

Edit also pays to look at uncontracted deals as you tend to better service when they know you can switch providers

Yeah RSPCA do similar - they offer people a free pet first aid pack, if you provide your details. You then get spammed with calls begging for donations.

When i finally got wired internet 3 years ago i did actually buy a phone for the landline that came with the bundle. Not sure why i did, we hadn't had a landline for about 5 years, maybe the offer of free calls that I'd never make. Anyway, given we never gave anyone the number, it was amazing how often the bloody thing rang. I can only assume it was scams and lottery selling, I'd know if I'd ever bothered answering it.

Mostly scam on mine, Have it set up on the answering machine, son set it to about 3 rings, I now use the number on the most doc's that request a phone line, especially when I buy off the internet. And as you say its free.

It would be VoIP type setup, and you are going thru an NBN provider,
Kind of solves my problem then of having 2 fixed lines with 1 adsl connection.

Back on topic I picked up my pack today from the post box, not excited about the green this year...

Anyone know when the tickets available to buy for the season will be on ticketek? I'm from WA and looking to get in quick and purchase tickets before I pay for flights.
