No great rookies in the ruck that are locked to make us money, and a lot of uncertainty in the R2 department. One of the few opportunities to make $$$ in the ruck line, very different from mids across the year.
If there are no ruck rookies however and Lycett goes down with injury again then it puts you in an awkward position

Last time I was in an awkward position was at chol's house with @The Oz

Could be tempted by armo if he goes well in jlt 2. The ultimate high chance of bust, high reward move

After last years effort, I'm scared about having so many mid Pricers in my team as it is without taking anymore risks

The only mid pricers i currently have are cogs and lycett.

I could really use an extra 50k in the fwds so downgrading cogs to armo gives me that plus play money.

Also, cogs doesnt exactly inspire confidence of staying fit either.

And if armo cam stay on the park till the byes he will have made at least 150k imo and a straight upgrade or keep as m9.

Edit- actually looking at my team i have quite a few more mid pricers. But i was referring more to cogs vs armo

If Lycett goes down then is there a rookie ruck replacing him?

Is Cogs a mid-pricer @$450K ? ......thought it was between $200 - $400K ? .....i only ask because i don't want too many Mid_Pricers, that $ 400K limit saves me embarrassment ;)

Re injuries ...isn't Gawn / Cripps / Hibberd as susceptible as Cogs ?

I dont know what the rules are re price ranges.

But i make a habit of saying things are bigger than they actually are....

If 200k - 400k is the range then i have zero

And yeah, there are heaps in that range who have injury risks. Their injury history is mostly the reason they have discounted prices against their scoring capabilities

We just set our mid-price range to suit this outcome :)

I'm going in full mid-priced madness this year.... screw the rookies and the cash cows.... I'm betting that all my mid-pricers are gonna come good and I've got a starting 22 already on the paddock.*

*until Thursday when I will go back to premo-rookie strategy.

boy oh boy there are so many mid-pricers I like this year... this won't end well for me :(

Most of them have history though:

Lloyd - averaged 91 last year when you take out the game he got KO'd in the first minute
Shaw - history speaks for itself. Williams and Wilson gone may reignite his career??
Pittard - averaged 92 in 2016, injury setbacks last season
Savage - averaged 100 once he got back into the side last year

Coniglio - averaged 106 in 2016, injury setbacks last season

Boak - history speaks for itself. Hampered by injury the last year or so, finally back to his best, albeit playing further forward??
Smith - averaged 91 in 2014, struggled with consistency and had injury issues ever since

McLean and Sicily the other two I like, but they're genuine breakout contenders.

Sicily marchbank redden cogs armo lycett Barlow Devon caddy dunkley
Yah may have a few.....

Crozier is going nicely under the radar. I cant wait for that nice consistent 90 average

Looked good in JLT 1, took a few nice grabs in the back half. Huge POD

Tiges fans; Is Corey Ellis best 22 or not?

Think the fans are at a 50/50 split. I like him, so I want him to play, but I don't think it'll work out.
Broad being suspended for 3 rounds makes picking CEllis pretty risky imo, even though they are totally different players.
Been named on field both JLTs, was first emergency for the GF so he can't be too far off it.
Has been a good midfielder at VFL level but hasn't been able to transfer that to AFL level.
I'd suggest giving it a miss, although I will probably pick him if he's named round 1, but that's due to a bit of bias I would think.

A few of them are a bit too expensive to be considered mid-pricers. $450k has always been considered the point where the mid price ends I think.

Of the players you mention I'll find it very hard to leave out Savage despite his history. He used to be one of those players who'd get a few great scores each season and terrible ones the rest of the time, but he seems to have found a new role since midway through last season and consistency has come with it. He confirmed the form with a great first JLT match and looks set for a 100+ average which is all you could want from a defender.

McLean and Sicily, who is a mid-pricer, will also be hard to leave out. Five tons and a 97 in Sicily's last 8 games and a good score in the first JLT make his $402K price tag a real bargain.

I'm not sure about the others though. Coniglio's 106 in 2016 is short of what you'd want from a Mid and improving on that coming off such a tough season could be hard. I think he will be a star though. Maybe next year, or as an upgrade later this year. Low 90s from Lloyd, Pittard and Smith, if they can get back to those scores, could be a bit below what other options can score. Boak's best would make him an excellent choice and I have considered him, but his inconsistency really worries me.

As for Heater, you may be right that the absence of Williams and Wilson could help him, but GWS still have plenty of young champions to fill their spots so Shaw probably will never again have that role as the automatic go to man on the way out of defence that saw him score so heavily when GWS was a team of kids.
