NFL 2018 NFL Draft - 27/04/2018 [No Twitter Spoilers]

This talk of the Browns taking QBs with their first two picks though is insane. Assume the intent is ultimately one develops into a starter and the other demonstrates high trade value. But...

- the Browns are not exactly and NFL development factory
- how do two top 4 picks share development AND get a chance to show their wares on the field?
- the Browns are giving up very rich collateral to do this so will want a very high return. At least 2 maybe 3 first rounders, and that is providing they find a team with that collateral.

Wouldn't the Browns be better off backing themselves in and pick their guy and use the other pick to trade down and bypass the risk of thinking they can develop the second guy into something better than what they drafted?

#brownsway

I read up on the last time it happened just recently...

Jimmy Johnson in 1989 the last to do it with Boys, taking Troy Aikmen in the NFL Draft and Steve Walsh in the Supplemental.

All it did was create controversy and it wasn't until the Boys got rid of Walsh and put their faith in Aikmen that they came good. It could be argued that it was the right move because they did get their guy with one of the two picks but it has not been attempted since, at least that early on in the draft.

With still numerous holes to fill Dorsey would be a moron to even consider it.

This is the biggest problem with drafting two QBs imo.

There aren't enough practice snaps to get one rookie QB up to speed with the NFL and then develop them into a quality player, let alone two. And that is before you even get into the lack of game time to develop or to maintain/improve trade value

Also if you’re one of those two QBs you may even refuse to play for Cleveland.

It’s a silly argument, like others have said, just back yourself. This isn’t the ‘84 draft, there are no standouts, why on earth would any team risk drafting two duds when you have a generational RB talent and what looks like an elite pass rusher? You would have to be a deadset idiot.

I don't do that, so no. Happily throwing thoughts around for the hell of it, and whatever I feel like that day. Today I feel Allen will slide.

i will and declare your genius status 3% of the time

Id be uber UBER pissed if we passed on Landry for Josh Jackson. If it plays out like that and he's there at 24 we better be running to the podium.

If the 49ers traded down to 15 and got Landry AND the Cards first rounder next year they can mail in the rest of the draft.
