Another article from Roy imminent surely
Roys article wasnt wrong as far as I can tell.
What he did leave out though was on a broadcast v broadcast level, Seven doesnt consider things a failure this year. Its only when its broken down into individual matches that it seems to be an issue.
Apart from aggregating averages over 2hrs with averages over 3hrs....
526k in the end.
AFL 1.693m
NRL 1.167m
The funny thing is that the AFL was over an hour longer. The gap in actual viewers would be much much greater.
Which is how the ratings agency does it with data supplied by Seven. Your blaming the wrong guy. And not something Ive ever seen the AFL or Seven argue about.
And to play the match on the GC and get only 16,000 is also a sign how far this suppoesd "national"team (Well really only a combined NSW and QLD tesm) has fallenThe Wallabies' Rugby Championship games going head to head with the AFL and NRL finals is moronic.
Just found out that Storm are playing their home prelim.....on Friday night!
I feel the NRL brains trust will be rooting for the Giants for the first time ever tonight
Seriously, you couldn't script this
The Wallabies' Rugby Championship games going head to head with the AFL and NRL finals is moronic.
Combined 73k viewers for Friday's NRLW match. (Nine 40k, Fox 33k).
Not sure if the parties involved, including the NRL, would be happy with that.

Not the ARUs decision. World Rugby control it and they don't care. ARU controls the venues, which is the state Governments buying the rights for the game. Queensland paid the money for 3 games in SEQ this year. ARU takes it because there isn't much in the way of bidding from other states.
The only game worth having is a Bledisloe at the moment.

Was always going to struggle for attention playing it during the nrl finals. It doesn't seem to have had the novelty impact the AFLW had. Which is a little surprising IMO.

Does world rugby control it or saanzar?
Either way, australia is hardly a passive recipient. Playing against the afl and nrl finals is a disaster
Quality of the teams hasn't helped them at all. It also means, only fans of 4 clubs are really interested, and it also means, only 4 clubs are developing players, game style etc.Was always going to struggle for attention playing it during the nrl finals.
What I do like about it is they have gone conservative with the number of teams. In contrast the aflw are expanding too quickly with the number of teams.
Agreed. Need to get these tests played in October.
