Reality check guys..richmond can afford to lose to us, WCE & port away as with the number of home MCG games they have will still finish top 4 and likely top 2. Yeah they get beat by the good teams away but when the grand final is on your home deck and the league give you an armchair ride to it by giving you so many games at the MCG in the home and away, todays loss means very little

After both Saints and Essendon in the next two weeks, they have Port (A), Geelong (A but really H @ G), Sydney (@ Etihad not the G), us (H) and Giants (A) and then Geelong and Collingwood later in the season. But that 5 weeks defines their season for finishing 1-2.

Or you can hope a Vic club finishes 4th if Richmond finishes top or 3rd if they finish 2nd. Or they have an almighty horrendous injury run like us.

So if West Coast finish top and Richmond 2nd, they win through to the GF, they’ll play at Richmond’s home ground and the result will be reversed. The VFL is a dodgy corrupt competition run by arseholes.
Richmond look as weak as piss away from their home ground. If the competition was fair, Richmond would not have made the GF last year.

Exactly, they would have lost to Geelong and then us in the prelim.

It’s why my love for the game/comp is waning, it’s just so dodgy.

If you are non Vic club you, to win a flag you have to be as twice as good as your Vic opponent to make up for the biased umpiring and draw.

If we played them at AO in the GF the result reverses.
Geelong at home and then us at home - they would not have played in the GF, guaranteed. It was a premiership gift wrapped by the AFL (VFL) and is yet another reason why the love of the game is waning for many of us non Victorians.

I used to religiously watch at least 6 games a week now I only watch the AFC. You can only put up with corruption for so long.

Everything in this competition by the AFL's attempts and desires, revolves around having a fair, even playing field.... with an asterisk existing all over the place.
Including the one next to a fair, even right to earn what you earn by where you finish on the ladder.

Won't someone think of the romance of where the VFL Grand Final was played for how many years though.. and how Grand Final week in Melbourne just won't be the same.. and how we won't be able to get as many corporates into the game.

So your club deserves an unfair hill to have to climb to win a Premiership. And others deserve a leg up.
We have a competition where Victorian clubs are hoping non-Victorian clubs make the Grand Final against them and non-Victorian clubs are hoping someone like GWS etc make it.
A professionally run competition. ******* comedy.

Yes it means essentially nothing. Any MCG tennant can win the premiership without winning a single game away from their home ground.

The comp is fixed.

That’s exactly right. At the start of the week you could see what we were up against when the Vic boys club ensured Cotchin got off. It was all downhill from there.

I’m the same. It’s pervasive through the whole setup, from tribunal to commentating to umpires to the majority of AFL media. Beginning to wear pretty thin.
