Couple of shocking kicks by Hunter Clark tonight. Is that a knock on him or uncharacteristic?
Uncharacteristic, he was actually one of the better kicks in the last year's draft, excellent off both feet usually and hard to tell which is his favoured side actually.

Just checked the match stats for yesterday's game 21 disposals at 71.4%, 3 clangers so the 2 you saw were about it for the game....pretty good for a 1st year player playing in an ordinary performing team.

Exactly, they would have lost to Geelong and then us in the prelim.

It’s why my love for the game/comp is waning, it’s just so dodgy.
I can handle the Grand Final at the G every year. We know that is always the case and let's be honest we joined their league and it is still very much the expanded VFL rather than a National competition. To me complaining about the GF being played at the G is akin to moving next to a suburb like Netley and complaining about the airplane noise from Adelaide Airport.

However this entire concept of "Home State" Final just to give clubs like Hawthorn and Richmond an advantage is moving the goal posts. As you say last year Richmond should have played their first Final at Kardinia Park. Not the MCG.

So you’ve accepted we are handicapped in a national competition, great.

Just texted mate who went to the game at Port Power est 1370 Stadium. Said they were giving tickets away all over the shop. The rain kept most away. He thought maybe 5 - 6000 there max.
How many were Australian expats working in China and fly in Port supporters I wonder.

Amen to the Vic bias. I’m not quite old enough to have a strong opinion on this, but is this the worst it’s ever been? Or has it always been deplorable?

When Cornes, KG and co used to go on about the us vs the evil Big V empire I used to think to myself *get over it dinosaur those days are gone, we are a national comp now* But then the 2002 GF, the 2012 PF, the 2013 PF, the 2016 GF and 2017 GF happened and I thought how wrong was I. These cheating bastards can actually determine who wins/loses finals and even grand finals.

I wouldn't think there are too many other local sporting competitions on the planet whereby teams that are located in a particular geographical location have such a huge advantage over their competitors. And Eddie has the cheek to whinge about Brisbane/Sydney. The AFL is a joke. Can you imagine Pyke being able to have a coffee catch up with the CEO of the competition to complain about an opposition teams tactics. The bias and corruption of their competition is blatant and public. They don't even attempt to hide it anymore.

That's why the VFL's media love Port so much because they know they don't have any allegiances to their local state or truly care about the "national competition". They are willing to whore themselves to the highest bidder as they have shown so many times in the past.

Dinner time on a Sunday night and you're still fixated on Port. You love it!
Dinner time on a Saturday night and you're still hanging around here to see what we are talking about. Don't you have something better to do?

2nd game outside Victoria, 2nd game looking like a loss.

Richmond playing better at home than away isn't so much of a thing, that naturally happens (and they aren't the only Vic team that doesn't travel very often

But what the indictment really is, at this stage, is this

2nd game against a 2017 finalist, 2nd game they've lost - it's Rnd 9 and they've already played 7 non-finalists from last season

I think it was at its worst when as a non Victorian team you earned the right to a Home final and it’d have to be played at the MCG due to a f***ing contract.
I guess the sad thing is that while that has changed nothing else has or other things have got worse. It’s very disappointing that after almost 30 years of this comp we’re still a long way from a truly national comp......these changes aren’t even on the table for consideration.

What is the other option?

Squeal a bit? The power base is Victorian. Their Government pork barrels a bit and they get the Grand Final locked up for 40 odd years. No amount of squealing from Fagan and other non Vic clubs will change anything.

Even Geelong couldn't get their rightful home Final due to the Melbourne (MCG is Mecca) centric attitude.

We just have to be much better to beat them. Implement a plan to beat them on their home deck.

There is no other realistic option.
