The GF was a perfect storm circumstances, some uncontrollable sheer bad luck, injuries to key players, (Smith and McGovern), and the other controlled and contrived by the AFL ensuring that Cotchin got off.
Throw in some questionable umpiring and it’s pretty well a set outcome.

Not really when you look back at what Pyke would say after a loss and looking at his choices at selection.
Pyke never reveals his true thoughts at pressers. He’s very, very measured in what he says.

What he tells the media and what he tells the players would be 2 very different things.

Soft spot for Brisbane
Getting angry and defensive is generally the first, second and third reaction you get from a liar when they are being accused of lying..
Often the response you get from someone who's telling the truth and is ****** off that he's being called a liar by a complete flog.

I don't blame him for being pissed off either. I would be pissed off if my incompetence was being called out in front of the national media as well.

Whether the club has deliberately been lying to its supporters or whether they have been upfront and honest is 100% irrelevant.

The media department has botched the message from the get go. The handling of Brad Crouch, Riley Knight, Tex Walker, Rory Sloane et al - has been piss poor and that falls on Shutts. The message hasn't been consistent and that falls on him. He needs to get the players, the footy department and the marketing team all on the same page.

He is either incompetent or a liar. Either way its a terrible look for our club.
Or they've told us what they've known at the time.

What possible reason do they have for lying? Whatever has happened has happened. They're not trying to sell season tickets.

I think they tell us what they know, and often they're hopeful for improvement that hasn't come.

Unless you have actual evidence of that, that's a pretty ****** thing to say.
tbh the injury thing doesnt bother me at all, soccer clubs do it all the time.
but yeh, youd have to be a fool to believe everything the afc say.

It’s been difficult all year for normal people, but not for you clairvoyants. (Seriously, number 1 spot, well done).
I started the season as well as could be hoped but had a shocker last week. I bet on both Geelong and Hawthorn to bounce back in the 2nd half of their games and got owned. Can’t belive they both got dominated by inferior opponents for 4 quarters. Neither team fired a shot.

Obviously, the afl ticks off the Talia/Webb sliding free. Vic fix is on.
While nothing would change the decision made at the time, this approval and announcement now has ramifications across the league, it doesn't just affect us. They have now given the green light for players to stay on their feet, run into someone that has gone to ground, fall over and draw a free kick. It will no doubt get much, much worse from here. Hopefully it costs a Vic side a loss against an interstate side. Then it would be interesting to see how much media noise follows.

This season is ridiculous. Literally every round I’m like: “that’s a 50/50, that’s a 50/50, that’s a 50/50...”.
