So it comes to this point of the season to get any satisfaction out of football I need to at least start liking a couple of other teams in the 8. I don't want to be a bitter Crows supporter like I usually am as I still do love the game despite the AFL admin getting involved.

So let us have a look who is on the board:

West Coast - Positives - Non Victorian, no real players to hate, they have not had too much success, 3 premierships in around 30 years, I'd be happy for them to win one more for now. Negatives - supporters can get annoying but there are worse. I'll give them a green light.

Richmond - Positives - no ex crows players, I don't hate any of their players, they have only won one premiership in 40 years. Negatives - They did beat us last year in the GF and do love the MCG, supporters get annoying as they are finally having success. I'm willing to go Yellow light.

Geelong - Positives - Can't think of any. Negatives - Dangerfield, the fact they are Geelong, too much success, their coach, their supporters. Red light

Sydney - Positives - No Tippett, Non Victorian, don't hate any of their players, supporters aren't too bad. Negatives - Have had many huge leg ups from the AFL. Dislike Buddy. Yellow light, think I'd be very happy supporting them on GF day if they are playing teams like Port, Melbourne or Geelong.

Melbourne - Positives - Lack of success, Titus O'reilly is a supporter, I like him. Negatives - Jake Lever. Jake Lever is enough to get me to Red light.

Collingwood - Positives - Buckley is quite likable these days, they play good football, no players I hate or dislike. Negatives, they are Collingwood, with their tails up their supporters will get cocky and annoying, Eddie Maguire. The fact they are Collingwood means I can't give them a green, but I'll give them a Yellow for now.

Port - Positives None, Negatives - too many to mention. Big red light.

North Melbourne - Positives - lack of success, no annoying supporters, I like Ben Brown, I don't have any issues with their players. Negatives - Victorian. A green light for me on that one.

Hawthorn - Positives - Can't think of any. Negatives - Too much success, supporters feel entitled. Red light.

GWS - Positives - Non Victorian, New club no success. Negatives - AFL made. Yellow light for me on that one.

Thoughts?

Who would you give your Green, yellow and red lights?
Green: West Coast, Sydney (only now Tippett has gawn) and lol Norf.
Yellow: Collingwood, Hawks, GWS
Red: Port, Richmond, Melbourne

I’d be happy if West Coast won the GF. Simpson is a fairly likeable coach, I like that he’s willing to call the AFL out on some of their bullshit. Nic Nat is one of the best players to watch when he’s in great form.
Eagles remind me of a lot of how we played last year. Strong big power forwards, well drilled and attacking footy brand.

I'd add Melbourne supporters as a negative towards the list of Melbourne negatives. I would've thought spending so much time as one of the league's basket case clubs would've drilled some humility into them, but our recent dealings with them have shown there's a fair few dees just waiting for a morsel of success to justify some trolling. God help us all if they manage to win a premiership.

Regardless of what West coast has done to us in the past they're my green light.

Non Vic- TICK

I love watching McGovern, Kennedy, Darling, Nic Nat, and my favourite - Jetta - TICK

They broke Port's collective heart with a kick after the siren 2017 :)(but we all know port would have gone on to win the flag if they'd just beaten WCE) - Double TICK

They are the lesser of all the other evils. - TICK

I'd pick GWS but they're no where near it.

No Port in those possibles? This year is more open than ever before. I know that's been said in years before but it really is open to any of WCE, Richmond, Collingwood, Sydney, Melbourne, Port, Geelong. All of them on their day can beat all of the top 8 no matter where they sit in the 8. Hell, if by some miracle Crows fell into the 8 and had their best players back, they would be a silly chance as well. We've already beaten two of the hot favourites with a swag of our best players out.

Fingers crossed Port have to end up playing a prelim in Victoria or in WA.

That should save us.

Asked about the trial, Dogs coach Luke Beveridge said: “What did you think?

“I’ve never been one to complain about what’s transpired out there, but … on a night like tonight when there’s some experiment there, it can’t get in the way of making sure the best decisions are made.

“The AFL will assess how they went. Yeah, I can’t say too much.”

Am I the only one a little bit disgusted by this?

Paywalled

Can you post a summary? Thanks
Beveridge having a cry about the umpiring, despite winning the free kick count 26-23. Wants an explanation on a McLean contact below the knees, and a Dixon free when engaging with Trengove (which IMO was a ridiculous decision)
