Geelong young gun Nakia Cockatoo has suffered another injury setback.

The 21-year-old is facing a race against the clock to be ready for round one, after injuring his calf this week.

Cockatoo has played 27 career games, but only managed five in 2017 due to multiple hamstring strains.

Mitch Cleary reported the news on Sportsday VIC, saying that the club is still holding out hope that the young gun could play against Essendon on Sunday, March 11 in the JLT Community Series.

“They’re not taking the risk (this week), they’re hopeful he might be right in Colac,” Cleary said.

“Three weeks out from the season, this is a concern for a guy who’s had soft tissue concerns in the past.”

What you’re saying is pretty ridiculous. You think that Essendon’s success during his time was due to Thymosin? That’s it? We don’t even know the impact of Thymosin and you’re saying that from day one of Hird’s tenure he was pumping them full of this wonder drug and it directly resulted in them winning. That’s outlandish to say the least.

Not by any means. There were plenty of other compounds involved. I agree it is rediculous to put it all on old beta-4.

Think about it mate. Middling team not looking to go anywhere soon pre-Hird----> Team full of mega-ripped Beast mode superstars in a season. Remember back to the commentary of the round one game in Jobes Brownlow season. Then go listen to the commentary of every game they played that season up until the time the players started suffering soft tissue injuries and the wheels fall off. The comentators were at no stage ever marveling at some new Bombers gameplan or how well drilled they were, but they sure as hell made a point to mention at every oppourtunity "The Weapon" and how he had taken this bunch of chubby middlers and turned them into muscle clad superforce, in such a short time.

Besides; what success?

Sure, we'll happily take your dirty money. If Rucci is correct you'd have to pay up though.

Hmmm... Up to 3 times the Renault sponsorship... So that would make it equivalent to about a tier 2 sponsor for most strong clubs.... good for powa. The sooner they stop putting their hands out the better....

Look, I know what Hird did was bad but he has obviously suffered a lot, he tried to kill himself and spent 5 weeks in a psych ward, he’s now selling chocolate.

The chances of him reoffending are zero, give the guy a break and if this position helps him get his life back together, I’m all for it and the public should leave him alone. None of us are angels.
No, none of us are angels, but when we **** up, the good majority of us own up and face the music. He STILL doesn’t believe HE did anything wrong. He has suffered because of choices and decisions HE made. I remember thinking at the time this all happened, when he said he took full responsibility that it was exactly what I expected a man of Hird’s reputation to do. From that moment forward he did everything but take responsibility... and in fact told us he was forced to say that by Evans who he then threw under the bus. If he had have stood aside until the investigation was completed, and apologised for not having the correct processes in place to ensure the safety of his players, he would still be held in high esteem. Instead he did the complete opposite. His punishment? A 12 month fully paid masters of business course in a top school in France and his job as coach at the end of it. He’s suffered, but it’s because of choices he has made, nobody else. And what he did was SO bad, there is no way he should be allowed to have anything to do with the sport. Dank got a lifetime ban... so should have he.

Oh FFS those peptides are regularly used in every gym in the western world, and have been so for decades

What they did was wrong, it was cheating, it was unethical, it was all sorts of ****** up etc etc

But FFS lay off the Mengele hysteria

This is one of your more ignorant posts chief.

The so-called expert who came up with this "stack" only had animal trials to go by.
A single compound in isolation may be fobbed off as being a harmless lark, but multiple compound doping is always a danger, especially when it has no other human trail to go by.

E.g. Smoking the daily doob can turn real ugly when you down a half litre of Jacks beforehand.

Stick to what you know old boy.

You're bleeding domain, foodland and isc each for 1.5 million+ a year? Nice work. It means you're making millions more out of your tier 2 sponsors than your are out of your major partner.

Come clean? Dank is the one who needs to come clean. Pretty confident Hird just let Dank his thing. Hird’s mistake was not being hands on and knowing wxactly what Dank was up to. Dank is a complete ******. He’s the one who screwed them more than anyone.

In what sphere does the chain of command work like this?
Jesus, the CEO or chairman or whatever he was accepted responsibility and stood down and Im sure he wasnt anywhere near as reaponsible as melantonin Jim.

But sports science didn't report through to the coach. Chain of command discussion supports Hird, best leave it at the door.

EC, Alex &/or Kochie?
Ah whoops

Nakia Cockatoo.

Thought I'd quoted Wayne's post but just saw that he didn't actually post any text himself, just the quote that doesn't show up

Whilst I agree, your answer is a little disappointing. ;)

So if this new sponsorship adds up to 2.5-3 million we'd be making as much from our tier one sponsors as the crows. Not bad considering how big the gap used to be and how garbage we were at getting sponsors.

Renault was $500k a year- your media acolyte says 3 times that amount.

In what world is $1.5m a year the same as $3m a year ?

You've been to the Koch school of spin I think.

Good going for Port, they need it.
But I would be more concerned with the money you get from your tier 2 sponsors. if Renault was equal tier 1 with 500K. that means your tier 2 are under 500k.

So two minor sponsors to add up to the equivalent of our one major sponsor.

This is we've been telling you all along
Minnow club gonna minnow

Again - we been hearing this same story for months
Well that's the point of joint major sponsors... Why doesn't your club work a bit harder and get joint major sponsors too but both worth 3 million?
