Watts doesn't strike me as a troublemaker (or someone who would have a lot of influence over people).I think the suggestion was that Watts might have been the start of that strategy

They're being torn apartGot a really sore neck again after a few beers with my Port mate. Head shakes aplenty.
PAP mate: "We get screwed by the media here in Adelaide."
Me: "Which story? The one about your star midfielder refusing to sign a contract? No stories there. You stuck with signing your bog standard coach to a four year deal? Media haven't talked about that. Claiming your Chinese venture would generate millions and you turn a profit that isn't big enough to buy a Toyota Camry? They haven't said boo about that. Your fans AGAIN being called out as racists against Indigenous players? Didn't even warrant air time. Your "superstar" being dumb enough to get rubbed out in a practice match? All I've heard the media say is it's the AFL's fault."
PAP mate: "And don't get me started about Rowey on Five Double Crow ..."
**** me sideways. I'm gonna need a neck brace for the next round.

If the pick doesn't exist any more we wouldn't have one. You know it would happenSo if the shit hits the fan down in Melbourne and the AFL step in and strip them of points etc and give them draft penalties.... what would happen to the 1st pick we own?
Can't see them being stripped of points etc but it's a very good point that ams raises in this day and age of future picks. If the pick doesn't exist any more we wouldn't have one. You know it would happen
Agree, and if any club was going to lose a pick in this fashion it would be us. Dees have form in this area, we lost the services of Dean Bailey due to indiscretions at MelbourneCan't see them being stripped of points etc but it's a very good point that ams raises in this day and age of future picks.
If I were Goodwin, I'd be identifying all of the ringleaders, and removing them from the list at the first available opportunity - much as Blight did with his cleanout at the end of 1996. Only differences here are that many of Melbourne's trouble makers could be traded (Adelaide's were all delisted due to age), and that they're probably not all out of contract at the same time (so getting rid of them might take a 2 years).
That's the smartest solution so it probably won't happen.I imagine if I scenerio like this were to occur you can't just gift the other club the number 1 pick... but getting the pick after your own first looks to be unfair or generous depending on where you finish.
You get the pick where that team finished the year before maybe??
No definitely 1941
I will have to make a gif of it
All the more reason to be shipping them out.The problem is that a lot of those troublemakers are the high draft picks/fan favourties/besties with the son of the assistant coach. Nepotisim is rife in the club. Almost as rife as a losing mentality and that's ingrained into that team, hard.
All the more reason to be shipping them out.
That's a whole other issue. My issue is that Goodwin shouldn't also be coaching either after his involvement in the Essendon doping scheme.
Port only have so many spots on their list though.
You just place the pick where it would have been if points counted. Can't see them being stripped of points etc but it's a very good point that ams raises in this day and age of future picks.
That Pick is not Melbournes. it belongs to the AFC. if Melbourne were to lose draft picks then it would only affect picks they own at the time of decision. So if the shit hits the fan down in Melbourne and the AFL step in and strip them of points etc and give them draft penalties.... what would happen to the 1st pick we own?
Just like the Dean Bailey suspension.....That Pick is not Melbournes. it belongs to the AFC. if Melbourne were to lose draft picks then it would only affect picks they own at the time of decision.
Good point. Did the AFC ever seek compensation or anything as Bailey was a contracted employee. Could they have sued Melbourne?Just like the Dean Bailey suspension.....
A different set of rules. Dean Bailey, the person was suspended. the Pick that Melbourne traded is now an Adelaide Crows pick. AFL cannot remove without breaking serval rules.Just like the Dean Bailey suspension.....
Consider me surprised then. Melbourne must have kept things under wraps for the most part, because I don't remember hearing about anything overly scandalous about him.Have a mate who played at Melbourne. Au contraire.
They wouldn't advertise it or it would reduce his trade valueConsider me surprised then. Melbourne must have kept things under wraps for the most part, because I don't remember hearing about anything overly scandalous about him.
I’m in the same boat.Am I missing something?
.what have the Dees done to possibly cost us their first round pick?
