Recycled players for Carlton

E.Curnow (Adelaide)
Docherty (Brisbane)
Garlett (Gold Coast)
Jones (Bulldogs)
Kennedy (GWS)
Kerridge (Adelaide)
Lamb (Sydney/GWS)
Lang (Geelong)
Lobbe (Port)
Marchbank (GWS)
Mullett (North)
O’Shea (Port)
Phillips (GWS)
Pickett (GWS)
Plowman (GWS)
Rowe (Sydney)
Shaw (Gold Coast)
A.Silvagni (Fremantle)
Thomas (Collingwood)
Wright (Adelaide)

From last year

Gorringe (Gold Coast)
Jaksch (GWS)
Palmer (Fremantle/GWS)
Smedts (Geelong)
Sumner (GWS)

I’m not denying there’s some very good players there but isn’t that just far too many. The fact they delisted five recycled players last year tells you something imo. There’s still a few very average recycled players on their list meanwhile two clubs have decided Billy Gowers (Bulldogs) and Nick Holman (Gold Coast) who Carlton delisted are worth not only list spots but games.
Nick Holman looks a likely type , Looking forward to watching him play tomorrow , We melt about our bad trade decisions but forwards that Carlton have let go make for interesting reading , Kennedy ,Betts and Waites are the first that spring to mind .All the half decent players on that list are defenders , And a couple of B grade midfielders.

Why do Carlton get Multiple Friday night games , I am getting sick of watching this very average side on prime time . They have lost there last 10 Friday night games by an average of 10 goals . PLEASE EXPLAIN !!! We got Friday night games once a year even when we were good .Now we suck we get none. And they get to open the season :straining:
Yeah it’s just not right
It hasn’t really bothered me in the past but it really is the VFL with the rest of us being treated like gatecrashers to their party
It’s taken 30 Plus years but it’s now starting to piss me off

Pretty easy to explain really. Carlton gets an audience boost even if they're shit. So more viewer numbers get more prime time advertising revenue.

A much smaller audience is going to watch, say, GC v Freo even if both teams were om top of the ladder. Day games in the week pull a lesser audience anyway so we get more of those.

The AFL and 7 both want to maximise revenue.

So many clubs pick players that haven't achieved anything. Or pick young players that haven't looked like making it but have "potential". I will never get it. If they don't show anything why do they think things will change :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

So glad we don't do it. Cmac, Matera, Hamling, Wilson etc etc all showed they're at least capable AFL players. Kersten is our only wtf selection but we desperately needed marking forwards I guess.

Weagles kept picking players former top picks like Lucas and Oakley-Nicholls and expecting to turn their careers around. Was so ridiculous and funny at the time.

I only just re-watched the game last night and closely, and am positive there was no heil-Hitler salute.

Walters on the other hand. Wish he would get the feigning and ducking out of his game. He is crap at it and never gets a free for it. Just ends up looking like a dill. He's a better player than that.
Just keep an eye on him over the season and FFS I hope I am wrong because I really hate that slimy tactic.
Walters is is worse because as you say he is better than that.

Agree and disagree with you guys. There is some overacting there from Sonny with body contact etc to draw a free kick which no one should be a fan off so agree.

However in regards to his ducking it is a strategy to avoid the tackle not to force a high or chase a free kick. It stems from his boxing, and he is on record saying that.

In saying that even though I believe he is honestly just trying to evade the tackle, I don't think it is a good idea at all. He may just get his head taken off one day and that's not fair to him or the tackler.

Yeah - but the product is demeaned when you have prime time audiences forced to watch rubbish football played by developing teams. Carlton haven’t been fit for Friday night games for years.

They’ve got Richmond/Hawks as tomorrows early game for goodness sake.

The tell tail sign for Sonny is when he ducks, he gets his head low too.
Players looking for high contact lower their bodies and elongate their necks upward to increase the likelihood of getting one around the neck.
