where are the other shadows? its pretty clearly in the air, doesn't look like any friction at all in the video
There's quite clearly other shadows in the picture. I don't know if you didn't bother to check or if you're just blind, but given there's shadows going away from the bat (and Short's body), there's enough evidence to suggest there would be a shadow below the bat if it wasn't on the ground.

You actually think that Short was holding his bat on that angle and it didn't get any lower that it already is? Because that's the only way it would be possible for the bat to have not been on the ground. It's clearly not getting any lower in the footage.

Look at the photo. The bat looks clearly in the air in relation to the darker scuffed up area in the middle of the pitch. Then look where the batsman is standing near to the edge of the pitch. Suggests strongly the bat is no where near the dark area but actually on the lighter coloured area near the edge of the pitch.at that point the bat appears to be on the ground. Tricked by the video into misreading the photo.
