The gold coast suns select

Jackson Hately

POS: Midfielder
Ht 190cm, Wt 81kg, DOB 21/10/00

I rate this pick highly.

VERY nice midfield with Walsh, Smith and Hately. That is a VERY strong future midfield.

With the departures of Lynch and May it would of been easy to go for key talls but with welsh slipping plus with the instant impact im hearing that Smith and Hately can make straight away it was too good to pass up.

Throw these 3 straight in with Weller, ah chee, Fiorini, Miles and the leadership of Swallow they could become a quality midfield side in a few years.

The next battle is keeping them all.

With 9th pick Adelaide select

Ben King
202cms 85kgs

Have to take best available
Would have liked to take 1 of the 2 South Australians taken just before this pick
The crows need to get younger this might a steal or a worst a trade back to Vic in a couple of years for one of the SA mids

Good midfield!

Only problem is they dont have the targets to kick to.

Wont have any issues finding the ball though!

I did toss up taking King with my pick, especially now Roughead has gone, and Campbell has as well. Means Trengove will float to CHB and English plays permanent ruck and I felt King would be a handy addition to their backline but think Rozee to the Dogs is a good fit, especially as they have lost Dahlhaus.

Geelong bid on Tarryn Thomas north melbourne academy selection
Ninth Melbourne - Conca Cuddle

Geelong bid on Isaac Quaynor Collingwood academy selection
_Cayz_ prodigy Wacky Tiger

Geelong bid on Rhylee West Bulldogs father son
Grockadoc

Conca Cuddle has the option to match on Thomas it will cost them picks 40 & 46 with 47 moving back to 64.

Collingwood matches for Guaynor which means using picks 40 & 42 with 54 becoming 64

If they match then Grockadoc has the option to match using 29 with 34 dropping back to 48.

Bid on one first. Then the other. Then the third.

Doing all 3 in one screws the draft order and punishes the club that decides to match first points wise.
See my post above I've worked out each match using excel spreadsheet

Yep THE_GUN screwed me up by tagging you guys. As Collingwood have pretty much loaded up on picks to take academy/father son kids in Quaynor and Kelly early on, I'll make the call on whether it's matched or not based on checking a few phantom drafts and rankings boards.

The reason i bid on all 3 players was because i would be out until 2.30am and know that all teams would / should match bids as they have deliberately traded out their pick to gather points for these players but at the same time i would be more than happy with any of the 3 players at Geelongs selection

In my bid it was in order and the teams that needed to match would know which is 1st

As i mentioned above, The teams have traded out 1st rounders to accommodate for bids for these players and are expected

1. West is certainly a mid 1st rounder and thats where he is expected to be bid on and representing Geelong i would be more than happy if the bid was not matched and he is allocated to the cats

2. Quaynor is also expected as a mid 1st rounder so Geelongs bid at #13 is certainly not unrealistic

3. Tarryn Thomas is a top 10 talent

Happy with any player named above at #13 for Geelong :thumbsu:
