GCS Pick 6 - Jye Caldwell

After first 2 picks GCS had to go for another midfielder. IMO Caldwell has the most upside. Plays a bit like Dow as he can win the ball inside and has some speed and dash from the stoppage.

Question mark is hamstring issues that have limited his junior football. Vic Country boy so hopefully will stay on GC.

Along with Walsh & Lukosius should be able to step in straight away and offer the Suns some hope.

Bulldogs Pick 7: Ben King

Wanted Rozee at this pick but B.King being a 202cm Key Position player is a perfect fit for Bulldogs that are lacking Key Defenders and unsettled Key Forwards as he can play both ends of the ground equally well. Has the talent to be a top 5 Key Forward or Key Defender down the track.

Giants select Jackson Hately

Plenty of options with outside runners, but with Port selecting next feel obligated to take inside mid
from SA. Giants will be regrouping with departures and possible raids coming at the end of the season.
Hately projects very well, a 192cm midfielder with elite hands. Extractor with potential to provide
Cripps/Oliver type service to the Giants midfielders.

With Callan Ward ageing a little, an acquisition like Hately will provide an excellent succession plan
in a couple of years. Giants have more selections early in the draft to add some more speed and class
to the mix.

Pick 11 for Port..Sydney Stack

A bit of a reach I know, but he fits our needs. His accumulation in the midfield, speed and the ability to play round 1 (has played in the wafl successfully already) forced me to pick him. He's got talent to spare also.

Coona Blues you're up.

Now that really is from left field!

Edit your Pick No. to 11 Pablito. There was a matched bid on Blakey earlier. :)

Options aplenty. Taken an inside mid, who has some "flight" potential, might be time for a bit each way.

The Giants select Chayce Jones.
Inside/outside type who projects more as an outside player (IMO) in the big league. Can play wing, forward
half back or in the guts. An elite runner and like many Tassie boys, hard at it. There will be no sense of
entitlement. Tackling is a notable feature of his game. Workaholic, who while offering as a Scully replacement
of sorts, has more value at the coalface.

Tasmanian mitigates the go home factor, see this as a no risk option who can potentially add to multiple
areas as they remodel the line up. Perfect type to spend his initial games in a pressure forward type role,
while developing and adjusting to AFL.

I'm seriously missing something, as I don't see much in Jones at all.
Stack is interesting at 10, although I feel he'll be more like a 30 odd pick at the ND. Who knows.

I had Stack in the mix for my pick 21 at Crows. Really like him. Apparently some issues with him but he's only a kid and he def has the AFL ability imo. Could be one of those unhidden gems. Gutsy by pablito to go at 10 but who knows.

Can people state for which club they are selecting. Makes it a bit easier :)

Nearly went with him at 6. I rate him. Looks a readymade afl player to me

Cracking choices CB. Both will be guns.

Pick 13 - Geelong - Liam Stocker

Geelong - as always - have a blindingly obvious need for pace, but Stocker is too good to pass up, and for mine sits in that next bracket of the draft along with Blakey, Hately and Caldwell.

Keeps his feet well in contest, is quick in the first few steps, disposes well to the leading players and distributes the football well on both sides of his body. Doesn't really have another a position on the ground other than an all-day midfielder (though you can be confident in him as a resting forward), but plays it so well you wouldn't care anyway. Shows clear cut leadership qualities and a maturity of both body and mind that most do not have coming into the league, and a hard worker to boot.

For mine, he's an excellent successor to Joel Selwood's role in the Geelong midfield, with Gary Ablett sure to take him under his wing as well. Would slot into Geelong's 22 and play straight away.
