Free agent OG Richie Incognito was involved in an altercation at a Florida gym on Wednesday and is being held by police for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation.

It's called the Baker Act, which is an involuntary mental evaluation. Incognito allegedly threw a dumbbell at another man in a Boca Raton gym this morning "for no apparent reason" after first throwing a tennis ball at the gym-goer. Incognito was allegedly "rambling about the government and screaming at the other man to 'get off my f*cking playground'." This is the second time Incognito has been held under the Baker Act, with the first coming in 2014. Incognito is a free agent after being released by the Bills this week. He had planned to continue his career.

Chargers GM Tom Telesco wouldn't rule out re-signing free agent TE Antonio Gates.

Following the season-ending ACL tear suffered by Hunter Henry on Tuesday, the Chargers are left with Virgil Green and a host of UDFAs at tight end. Gates turns 38 next month and has very little left at this point, but he obviously knows the system and has a great rapport with Philip Rivers. If he were to be re-signed, Gates would be an immediate red-zone threat but little else.

The NFL will not require players to be on the field for the national anthem in 2018.

The media owned by the league is spinning this as a "compromise," but it's hardly that. As Judy Battista puts it, "If players are on sideline, will stand. But players may choose to stay in the locker room if they prefer not to stand." Her colleague at NFL Media, Ian Rapoport adds, "Respecting the anthem will be paramount if you’re on the sideline. Teams can also set their own policies. Compromise all around." Compromise for the league owners, maybe, but the players had zero say in this said "compromise." The owners are simply trying to keep the anthem "protesters" and "disrespecters" off the field for the song. It may not even work. If a player has strong feelings toward social injustice -- we assume they do if they're kneeling -- a fine may not be strong enough "punishment" to keep him off the field during the anthem. The NFL continues to find ways to get in its own way and fuel a fire that keeps burning.

Domestic violence charges ageinst 49ers MLB Reuben Foster have been dropped.

This was expected after Foster's accuser recanted her claims in a preliminary hearing. Foster’s possession of a weapon charge was also reduced to a misdemeanor, with his pre-trial set for June 6. It's great news for Foster's standing with the 49ers, though he may still face league discipline. Foster will return to team activites now that the case is resolved.

Starting this thread as we approach the pre-season portion of the season.

------

Mike Silver and Mike Florio having a war on twitter about the leaked news that Jackson tried to trade for Nick Foles before trading for Tyrod Taylor....

It was for a 2nd round pick, unless someone gets hurt in preseason i dont see the Eagles getting better. And if someone trades for Foles they will have buyers remorse when they see what he is like without the Eagles coaches.

Good win for the Eagles since they asked Foles and he wanted to stay, then restructured his contract. and win for the Browns because they were saved from making another bad mistake [only to make a bigger one picking Mayfield 1st overall]

We might not get better, and it still might not be worthwhile. We're in a superbowl window. If Wentz isnt good to go, we know we can win it with Foles.

Not sure the risk of wasting a season in that window is really worth it for a second.

I just KNEW it was Kendall Wright all along..

---------

Contradicting his public statement, Terrance Williams told police that Kendall Wright, whom Williams played with at Baylor, was the driver for his weekend car accident, and that Williams was not in the car.

Williams' initial comments to police basically contradicted everything he ended up saying in his public statement on Sunday. Whatever happened, Wright does not currently appear to be in any sort of trouble with the law. Williams is facing charges of public intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident. His entire story can be found at the link below.

Yahoo Sports reports that, using a "Washington consulting firm," the NFL polled fans last summer on whether free agent Colin Kaepernick should be signed.

Per reporter Charles Robinson, the poll also included questions on domestic violence, gambling, player protests and player safety. Kap was reportedly the "only player singled out in the research for specific opinions." That could create headaches for the league in Kap's collusion lawsuit.

Not really sure what thread to put this in but I need answers.

I've never watched the CFL but can someone please explain what the **** is happening in the CFL game at the beginning of this clip?!

If the ball gets touched back in the end zone, it is 1 point to the team whose scoring EZ it is

(or something like that)

Back from SE Asia and this was waiting for me...all Garoppolo fantasy owners know what to do.

Packers sign Marcedes Lewis Thats huge. we signed one of the worst blocking TEs in Jimmy Graham and now one of the best blocking TE's in Lewis. Lewis can also be a deep threat. Packers offence will be like a video game this season, I wonder how the new look D will play. We could be scoring 50 every week, but giving up 45 if the D doesnt improve.

50 points? ...Anthony Barr grabs his crotch in your direction for suggesting that.

Im not sure your offense is any better than it has been in years past. Graham isnnt the pass catching threat he was. Cobb is going backwards. Rodgers main guy and the player he had the best chemistry with won't be there and your running game is still a non factor.

The defense under Pettine, along with the quality you picked up in free agency and in the draft will be much improved however IMO.
