Unless we get half a dozen 102k mid rookies lining up for round one LDU is a lock.

I'd imagine Higgins will get a look in early. Hopefully he can keep up is 145 SC average from TAC cup in the big boi league

Worpal will be a good cash cow if he gets a game.

Could we see some decent WC rookies next year?
Willie Rioli, Ryan, Venables? Should all have forward status next year I think.

And the Cats grabbing that mature aged Kelly fella seems good on paper, could have another Menegola type on their hands.

And Saints picked a crap load of defenders, so hopefully we got a couple to pick from.

Like that Ballard boy who GC picked up too.

LDU I think will play from day one in the middle I'm prepared to pay the premium
Correct, he will be lining up next to Cunnington and Pruess come Round One.

Outside LDU, Mountford and Ahern are two of the better cheaper midfield rookie options at North that you can expect to get midfield time.

Simpkin will be a premium rookie type to keep an eye on during the JLT series as well, as North slowly transition him into the midfield.

Mountford and Simpkin won't be anywhere near worth it next year at 310k~ and 250k~ respectively.

Ahern will be a very common pick provided he hasn't fallen apart again before the season starts. 117/123k dpp players are gold.

LDU should be a touch under 200k, might be a bit pricey for some but should be one of the safest picks come round 1.

Ahern is fine, could have played this year if North did what GWS did and rush him back (which re-injured him when GWS did that). He is ready to go and his lateral movement hasn't been affected at all and will play round 1, but probably starting off at half-forward.

Simpkin's price surprises me, as he posted low numbers this year.

Mountford's price too seems a tad expensive.

'I'll do some kind of fantasy preview during the preseason some time.

For some quick names: Cerra, Z.Bailey, Higgins, Allen, L.Fogarty, T.Kelly, L.Ryan, B.Daniels, Spargo, Fritsch, Ainsworth, Constable, McPherson, Wooller, Worpel, Paton, Baker, Houlahan, Stoddart, Miers, Crowden, Moore, H.Brayshaw, Switkowski and Guelfi are some you may see next year who may at their prices be worth having on your watch-list early days'

Heres what big footys resident draft guru Knightmare thinks of potential fantasy players for next year for those who are interested.

As of now I'm going with:

Backline - Zach Tuohy (Lonergan and Mackie retired), Rory Laird (Brodie Smith out for the year and Lever gone to Melbourne) and Kade Simpson (Docherty out for the year)

Midfield - Fyfe (looked amazing in the IRL game and had an excellent run home in 2017, looks back to his best), Dusty (No brainer, can't be tagged out of games, can go massive), Danger (Don't care how much he is, he's Mr. Reliable) and Josh Kelly (Consistent high scorer). Once I generate some cash I also want to get Matt Crouch, Dane Zorko and Tom Mitchell into the side.

Rucks: Very tempted to start with Naitanui. He should be reasonably well priced shouldn't he? and Gawn.

Forward - Would love to go Greene, but he's too much of a liability with his always getting suspended. Will have to wait and see who gets mid/fwd status as I'll be selecting 2 of them like everyone did with Dalhaus and Macrae this year. So F3 will be out of Jeremy Cameron, Josh Kennedy and Daniher.

Rookies - Not much of an idea yet, but Stephenson and Murray from the Pies will probably be in the team from the start so I'll go with them. What about Jack Graham from Richmond? Will he still be cheap?

Mirra rookied by Hawks is one to keep an eye on. Must be looking to use him.
Not sure his game is SC relevant but could find a role in senior team. Word is his leadership and direction in the backline is being considered important with Hodge and Gibbo now gone.

If he's playing and a 102k rookie, he is very relevant

Out of all the highlights I have seen he looks a gun and ready made. Good disposal as well.

Problem is Will Setterfield was 190k+ last year (pick 3) and played 2 games. UDL (pick 4) could be out of reach at that price, as tempting as he is, especially if you start with Danger.

As CaptainHowdy87 posted, I would love to start Danger, Fyfe, Martin and Kelly (had them all from the start last year). However, that is some serious cap gone which 'may' rule out expensive noobs like UDL.

I think most would agree that high priced rookies need to really be showing something special to be considered given how much they need to average to grow the same amount as a basement rookie.

The thing a lot of people see with LDU is a big bodied kid with arguably the most ready to impact game of any of the draftees. On top of that he should walk in as a starter to north’s midfield which is screaming out for some class.

Everything depends on what he does from here until round one, of course, but looking at it now he’s right at the top of the pile.

Let’s face it. You want as many of the cheaper rookies as possible. Last year i didn’t get it right. Had to burn a few trades to correct otherwise I was making no money. LDU etc you can't rule out but those priced rookies for me are an exception.

You want the right rookie - irrespective of price. You want that guy who is going to grow in price but also maintain his performance (perhaps even improve on it by the week). Think Andy McGrath. He wasn't cheap but he was a great pick up. Some kept him all year.

Fyfe will be "reasonably" priced
Danger and Dusty thru the roof tho

Thoughts on $ for this nrth kid mentioed (UDL) compared to WCE kid Venables. Im liking J Worpel (hawks) and C Spargo (Melb), too. Kelly, Fritsch and Switkowski, all mature age I know nothing about. Looking forward to a better attempt at SC next year.

Fyfe is a lock iMO.

Thinking about not starting with Dangerflop. Dusty is overpriced. He wont have a year like that again.

I’ll be doing my best to start with Dusty and Danger. Dusty just hit his peak and Danger still up there.

Petracca an interesting prospect next year. Averaged 79 and as a forward will be tempting if he looking like breaking out.

Isn't he a bit like Gray in terms of they prefer him forward for large patches of games due to his goal ability?

Coming into his third proper AFL season I think he’ll have more of an impact wherever he plays but think he’ll play mid and forward.

Richmond wont finish top 4 again and Dusty wont play like that all year.

Danger would be a must have at 650k but he gonna be over 700k or some shit. Too much for me.
