He's not as good as Laird who should be all australian but he's up there with guys like Hurn, Simpson, Shaw, Houli, etc. in that distributor role. And it's reflected by his metres gained and score involvement averages.

Yeah it was a no brainer in the sense that the both had similar stats except Rich played every game (and had an obviously elite weapon with his left boot) while Beams only played 18.

Beams obviously had the better career since but to call him a no brainer for the RS is dumb as s**t lol.

It's the same reason Taylor beat Bont - because 23 good games is worth more than 16 slightly better games.

Look at the stats though. Rich literally had 100 more kicks and 60 more tackles than Beams.
Taylor had 120 more disposals and 40 more marks than Bont.

You just cannot seem to grasp the concept that the award goes to whoever has had the best season, not some arbitrary measure of who has the most potential. When you play every game in a season, you're at a massive advantage over those that play 18 or 16.
