As mentioned in the off the ball thread by Reynolds Number Rugby League looks to be the 1st sport played at the new Perth stadium, although it won't be the 9's as speculated, but a double header with South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs to face yet to be named opponents on Saturday, March 10.

Rugby League will be the first sport
The National Rugby League will steal a march on the AFL by playing a blockbuster double-header at the new Perth Stadium next year - two weeks before the Dockers and Eagles begin their 2018 campaigns.

South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs will host the afternoon and evening matches on Saturday, March 10.

The Warriors will also feature in an opening round double-header at the brand new Perth Stadium. Premiers Melbourne will open their title defence against Canterbury on March 10 with the bill also featuring a clash between Souths and the Warriors.

Stupidity from the NRL. They have scheduled the grand final re-match at AAMI park on Thursday March 22nd which will be tge same night as the AFL season opener at the MCG.
