It looks like there are so many people using Moorabbin that some trainings and stuff must be going to use Seaford. It looks like Womens footy, Sandy Dragons, junior footy admin etc are all sharing. How are they all going to get a go on the oval?
Still using TBO as well

The club has been writing down its investment at Seafood over the past two years. This is one reason why our accounts have not been as operationally transparent as we would like. $2.9mill was written down in 2017.

We have no leasehold commitment to Frankston City Council for the balance of the 50 year lease other than the $50 prepayment made in Oct 2011.

So our exposure on the relocation is really only limited to the capital investment at Seaford.

gringo.........at Moorabbin....they have recently installed light towers in the field adjacent to the new complex......extra training area I'd imagine.

The admin for the other entities will be in a seperate building/s. And it’s no secret that every other group that wants to use the oval has to do it around St Kilda’s schedule.
Helps that all of our training is during the day.

Yeah with commitments such as work and school it will all ways mean other teams will be outside our training training schedule. I haven't posted or commented much in big footy, but I have seen the Moorabbin Ghost mentioned a lot in these forums. Great to reply to your comment. P.S how did no one create the user name saints man?

Because it's sexist

If the world’s best tennis players were AFL clubs, who would they be?

ST KILDA — MARIN CILIC

Oh when the Saints ... St Kilda has won one premiership. Marin Cilic has won one Grand Slam. Neither has done much else since. I’m not saying they were flukes, but ... Fluke = “an unlikely chance occurrence, especially a surprising piece of luck”. Well, I might be being a little harsh, the Saints made the Grand Final in 2009 and 2010, while Cilic reached the Wimbledon final last year, but we all know how those ended …

Ouch! A tad harsh maybe....past performance is no indication of future gains!!!

Sam Stosur..

- A tease
- Occasionally up around the pointy end
- Best as good as anyones
- But regularly collapses in a heap
- And is ultimately a battler, albeit a grand slam winning battler

Milney was on the radio today, no idea what station and I only caught the end of it but it sounded like a pretty lengthy talk. all I got from it was the 3 best players he's played with, and it was pretty easy to guess who they were

ST KILDA is set to announce a major coup with Paddy McCartin on the verge of signing a contract extension until the end of 2020.

Only minor details remain before the deal is officially ratified and made public.

McCartin was due to come out of contract at the end of 2018 and there were murmurs the Cats were circling to line up a trade for him to partner and eventually replace Tom Hawkins.

But St Kilda always refuted these suggestions and has reaffirmed its strong commitment to the 21-year-old by tying him up before his contractual situation could become a talking point in the winter months.

After setting a personal best in the club’s 3km time trial in early November, McCartin suffered a mid-foot strain and was put on a modified training program until Christmas.

This minor setback is not expected to hamper him as the home and away season approaches and he will integrate into the main group over the next week.

“I’m feeling really confident and so are the doctors and everyone I have spoken to that I am going to be fine and I’m really looking forward to next year,” McCartin told reporters in late November.

Of bigger concern is the former No. 1 draft pick’s history with head knocks. He has been concussed six times, the last of which was in June and ended his 2017 season.

Although the club conceded he could have returned late in the year, they opted against taking any risks with their highly valued key forward.

A contract extension was floated in the latter stages of 2017 by both McCartin and former chief operating officer Ameet Bains, but the player’s immediate focus remained on getting his body in shape for a tilt at a full season without Nick Riewoldt.

The vacancy left by St Kilda’s longest serving captain sees McCartin nicely placed to slot into Alan Richardson’s best 22 for Round 1 alongside Josh Bruce and Tim Membrey.

Last year the Saints were resistant to playing all four in the same forward-line, which saw Josh Bruce spend three weeks in the VFL midway through the season.

McCartin has booted 22 goals in 22 senior games since debuting against Collingwood in Round 3, 2015.

The club selected him over Christian Petracca because it believed while both were talented juniors, key forwards were harder to come by than midfielders and they would eventually need someone to fill Riewoldt’s shoes.

That time is now and the impending contract announcement is another indication the club is confident its most recent No. 1 pick can reach lofty heights once he gets his body right.

An official announcement is expected as early as next week.

Paddy McCartin
Emerging key forward Paddy McCartin has reaffirmed his commitment to the St Kilda Football Club, signing a two-year contract extension.

The 21-year-old put pen to paper to remain in red, white and black until at least the end of 2020.

Recruiting and List Manager Tony Elshaug said McCartin was an important signing as the club continued to develop its young talented list.

“It’s a great sign when one of your emerging players recommits to the club long term as Paddy has done,” Elshaug said.

“He has become a really popular member of our playing group and obviously sees a bright future at the Saints.

“Paddy has shown great character and resilience in the way he has confronted every challenge over the past three years.

“His work on the training track in the latter stages of last season and throughout the pre-season has been first rate and we’re excited by the player he can become in the coming years.”

McCartin said he was fully committed to helping St Kilda become a genuine contender.

“I love the club and I’m excited for what the future holds," he said.

"The club has invested a lot in me and I look forward to repaying their faith.

“There is a great feeling among the group and we are really hungry to take the next step this season."

McCartin returned to full training last week after suffering a minor foot sprain in early December.

He has played 22 games and kicked 22 goals since being drafted to the Saints with pick No. 1 in the 2014 AFL Draft.
