Without wanting to open the can of worms.... why wouldn’t Paddy get fitter? I recon the bigger you are the more match fitness is required and Paddy haven’t strung two seasons together yet. I’m 100% confident that a fit Paddy gets a lot fitter then he currently is.
I agree a fit paddy is also a fitter paddy

Going by the GCS game where Dunstan ( 15 touches @ 66.7%) sat out a fair chunk of the last quarter, Clark (17 @ 82.4%) and Steele (21 @ 71.4%) on the ground in the guts in the last with Armitage (25 touches @ 64%), Ross (33 @ 72.7), Steven (28 @67.9%), Billings (27 @ 67.7%) and Sinclair (25 @ 60%)

Reality is he is our 8th best mid right now.

Even if we go off his full season and you are right he is about line ball with Steele at 3 or 4 it's in the worst midfield in the competition, when the game was being won in the last quarter against GCS, he was behind Clarke and Steele in the eyes of the coach. He may be limited by his shoulders but if he is fit he is sliding down the list.
It’s a bit silly to base reality off one game. Reality tells me that he has been our third best mid over the last twelve months behind Ross and Steven.

I’m not against trading him, but only for the right price. I’d want to be aiming for that first Melbourne have Adelaide or at the very least the second rounder Carlton gave them.

Otherwise it’s just not worth it.

He should get fitter, not quicker.. his health problems will always hold him back to a degree. Some guys have the body/capacity to get elite fit, Paddy, like others his size will struggle.

Who’s giving more? One knock away from retirement. Slow, unfit due to health problems. Doesn’t suit the modern game. Should I go on?
WHo would give 21 for Stanly, who would give 2 for Lachie Weller, need I go on? Glad you have nothing to do with trading.

Billings a late second rounder?
Gresh staright swap with Hall?
Coff and Clark, delist?

We all differ in opinions, that’s what makes us human ( or Saints fans ).

Paddy isn’t getting any quicker. Fitter, probably.

My honest opinion is he won’t won’t be on an afl list in 3-4 years time.

But no point squabbling about it - he’s not going anywhere. We won’t get anything better than a 3rd round pick for him and we wouldn’t accept that.

Without being harsh to him - I’d love to see him rested late year so we can look at Membrey, Battle & Bruce forward set up. Gut tells me this is out best set up.
Paddy is improving with every game, so to say he isnt going to get any better is incorrect because we are seeing him get better every week. We forget that he hasnt had a lot of continuity in his football for the past few years and it is hard to improve your match fitness and skills without playing regularly.

I'm not taking it seriously they are a pretty rough guide and overrate hit outs, tackles and contested possessions but so do most stat compilations. It's still a guide to who's getting more touches. Mc Evoy is still very good around the ground and a good mark so has better stats than some other rucks that are more dominant in hit outs. He's still better than either of ours. In hindsight it was a bad move but so were a million moves by other teams. The Hawks let Josh Kennedy go for not much for example.
McEvoy wasn't a bad trade at all. It paid off for the Hawks and paid off for us. He may be better than our ruckman at the moment, but the trade allowed acquired as three other guys who are regular players.

Interesting post by a Richmond supporter on the main forum. He suggests that Darcy Moore is on his way to the Saints in 2019. In a trade that involes a swap of 1st round picks with Collingwood eg 3 for 13 to be ontraded by Collingwood plus a player for Tom Lynch GCS.

Apparently Darcy and Jack Sinclair are best mates.

Saints gain pick 13 & Darcy Moore
Lose pick 3

Collingwood gain Tom Lynch GCS
Lose pick 13, Darcy Moore & player.

Whilst I’m sure players have probably made up their mind they are leaving at this stage of the year, I doubt clubs have already sat down and talked about likely deals.

We still have no idea where the two teams are going to finish so we don’t know which draft picks will even be there. I’d take anything you read on here with a grain of salt mate.

Agree its all supposition at this time but makes some reason with Collingwood wanting Lynch.

I know some people dont rate Darcy but I think he has a huge future. It would at least give us some movement for other trades.

The different opinions are what makes this forum worthwhile!

My earlier post might have missed the mark a little. I don't actually mean that Paddy will get faster, but that his ability to run repeat sprints will improve, and he will show less of the fatigue that we see frrm him on second and third efforts.

I definitely think Moore is most likely out the door, especially if they get Lynch.

Just can’t see ya chasing him, and especially since there are quality midfielders available at pick 3. At least I hope not.

Isn’t Lynch a free agent?

Savage, Dunstan and Acres.
Thank god they didn't mess that one up.

If only we'd taken Nankervis and Brown instead of trading for Longer. ( a year earlier i was advocating taking Brown as a rookie on the back of a strong Tasmanian year ).

Just to put into context, this was the quote;

“He would be a good acquisition for the saints,
Not sure how jack would react
But maybe a swap of first round draft picks, currently pick 3 for pick 13
You then trade that pick 3 + josh Thomas to suns for lynch ....
Saints trade mav weller back to the suns for one of there second round picks .
Sounds like a good deal to me”

So it’s literally just a random guys opinion.
