.
Just shows he has a lot of potential but only occasionally.

A few cherry picked stats means diddly squat unless he can put it together regularly.

No cherry picking.
Contested possessions 2018.

this is probably a better run than someone like Koby Stevens EVER had.
Luke Dunstan has had a better run of contested possessions this year, but previously hadn't had as many.

I have no clue.

The saddest part of these forums are the posters who think they do have A clue.
One thing about sport, is that it makes people get things wrong so often.

I am wrong more than I am right about football. The vast majority on here are the same.
There are some who think they have a clue.
They are the ones with most entertainment value.

I hope like hell I am wrong about Acres, and others who I think aren't that good.

Can others say the same?

If Gaff is being kept by West coast , couldn't Shuey be looked at , he is contracted - the same goes with many players that could be tempted - we might be surprised who we end up with at the end of draft time.
They have to get someone , but who are they looking at.
I feel Shiel will be a target , could we lure DeGoey.

He suffers from Trout's disease where we have too many player who are the same types. We have to play the ones that have more strings to their bow out of the ideal position. Acres can play a variety of roles where some one like Dunstan can't so he gets sent out to fend for himself.
I think he suffers from Sippos Syndrome where people's fantasy of what he will become exceed his capabilities to reach it...

from what i hear there has been talk all season about the reasoning why they are using Blake to plug holes realistically we have mids who are really not setting the world on fire who are getting games there on the back of the fact they cannot do anything else.. Blake is seen as expendable because he can at least give a contest in other positions ... ive heard of a heap of heated conversations from the assistant coaches wanting to use Blake diferantly but Richo over rules and blake get used as mr everywhere....

you talk about contested possessions Blakes stats against those who are meant to be our contested possesion winners who are consistantly in the middle is pretty tellng
for this season Blake averages 9.3 contested posessions per game playing only short spurts in the centre the rest of the group :
Dunstan : 10.8
Armo : 5.6
Steele : 8.8
Steven : 10.3
Koby: 5.5
Seb: 10.2
I've been hearing the same thing, which is why i wanted Richo sacked in 2012...

Straight swap for Dunstan? How would it work?
would take him but not for Dunstan - to me our forward line is just about set
Long - Battle - Billings
Membery - McCatin / Bruce - Gresham

with Acres and Newnes rotating in the forward line

Lynch would be good get , but atm we don't have anything to trade for him and Dunstan to me has a bit more value than Lynch.

Would like to get B.Crouch and Sloane and think about trading Dunstan.

Crouch is a Victorian who has been having injury problems and is one guy we could get if he wants out of Adelaide.

With B.Crouch , Sloane , Steven , Ross , Acres , Steele , Hunter and Coffield (Freeman) our mids don't look to bad.

But Slone & Crouch wont be playing for us Freeman is nearly 5 years in and hasn't played a game and most likely wont. So our midfield looks not so good.

I think Dunstan had around 15 touches last game if we could get anything half decent we should jump at it

Would love Tommy Lynch to return. Would be ideal for our forward structure but would raise a few interesting questions. Say he plays the same role he does at Adelaide which allows Membrey more time inside 50; who is our deep target? Bruce or McCartin?

As much as I’d love Sloane I do think it’s wishful thinking, I would be going very hard at Sydney’s JLloyd. Would be massive for midfield/defence as an outside ball distributed. Those two alone would make our 2019 22 look a whole lot better..

B: Webster, Austin, Geary
HB: Coffield, Carlisle, Roberton
C: Lloyd, Dunstan, Sinclair
HF: Billings, Lynch, Membrey
F: Long, Bruce, Gresham
R: Longer, Steven, Ross
Int: Acres, Newnes, Steele, Clark

Obviously very early but still plenty of tough decisions to make..

So we’d be bringing him in to replace Battle?

Battle looks very promising but yeah I’d back in the recruitment of a ready made gun over a bloke who has only played 3 games. Our midfield would look a lot better with a presence like Lynch giving them a target to kick to.

Acres when in form would be in our best 22 easily.
The coaches have ruined or at best, ******ed Acres' progress. Put him in the midfield, leave him there and see how he goes. AR has no idea in raising players to AFL level. The last five years proves that. If they have the balls to put in a decent, proven senior coach, we will watch the likes of Acres, Billings, Ross, Dunstan, McCartin and Billings improve. He's a lemon. What more evidence do you need? This list is not a 2/10/1 list, no matter which way you look at it. He should go back to running an electrical store, where he belongs. He has no idea how to develop and inspire young men to reach their peak. You have five years of data on that one.

Fair enough. I might agree if we were closer to a flag but I’m not that keen on the idea.

I reckon with Membrey who plays as similar role and the emergence of Battle who will too, I don’t see a huge need for him. He’d likely cost a bit trade wise and I think there are more important needs.

Battle will make it. He needs a decent head and forwards coach. He has the ability..
I would take Lynch back, but I doubt he would ever come back. I know RL is gone, but his letter to JP about drafting Lynch would probably ensure Tom never returns to the saints, even though Tom was a mad saints fan and was in nirvana when we drafted him. W2L may disagree because he would no better.

He is a good player and if he wants to come to us we should take him , but not for to much , our focus should be on mids - and getting some one good from the draft.
you know that.
