He is a good player and if he wants to come to us we should take him , but not for to much , our focus should be on mids - and getting some one good from the draft.
you know that.
Thing is, we won’t just be able to get him on the cheap. He’d cost a bit and I think we have other areas more important than a third tall forward.

Brain doesn't work quick enough for an inside mid.

Give him a tiny bit of time and space and he can be damaging. A bit slow for an outside mid, but he can get the ball to do the work for him.

Terrific coaching and development to recognise that Acres is not an inside mid and it would destroy him trying to make him one.

Too bad he is squandering his chances in his real positions and not developing himself or coming on.

When can we swap him for Cerra?

I wonder if it is worth the saints making a play for Stefan Martin. Given the talk that he wants to return to Melbourne and his age, might be worth having as a short term solution and could get him relatively cheap (late 2nd/3rd round pick)

Could see him playing for another 2-3 years at the top level. Even at his age would be a significant upgrade on Hickey and Longer.

I recon the Cats will be looking for someone like Martin. Not sure if he addresses anything we really need though.

The coaches have ruined or at best, ******ed Acres' progress. Put him in the midfield, leave him there and see how he goes. AR has no idea in raising players to AFL level. The last five years proves that. If they have the balls to put in a decent, proven senior coach, we will watch the likes of Acres, Billings, Ross, Dunstan, McCartin and Billings improve. He's a lemon. What more evidence do you need? This list is not a 2/10/1 list, no matter which way you look at it. He should go back to running an electrical store, where he belongs. He has no idea how to develop and inspire young men to reach their peak. You have five years of data on that one.
I posted the same views on Richo back in 1979 and was flamed and ridiculed.

Battle will make it. He needs a decent head and forwards coach. He has the ability..
I would take Lynch back, but I doubt he would ever come back. I know RL is gone, but his letter to JP about drafting Lynch would probably ensure Tom never returns to the saints, even though Tom was a mad saints fan and was in nirvana when we drafted him. W2L may disagree because he would no better.
Did Tommy see the letter?

He did, unfortunately. That's why he'll never come back. Ross never gave him a chance. I don't know why RL hated him so much. Humiliated him in front of the Sandy crowd at half time as well. I don't know why, VDS66, but Tommy didn't stand a chance. Another good player cleaned out. W2L will tell you why. He's clearly an ITK. Another failure of the JP/Drake era.

Considering the career Lynch has had at the Crows, it’s surely more a failure of Ross Lyon than the recruiters. He obviously can play.
I felt very sorry for him - he got absolutely no love from Lyon at all, barely got a chance, and I was really pleased that he made a go of it in Adelaide.

What is this... gang up on Joffaboy day?

Disgraceful.
Lynch and Sipposs both failures of the RL era. I think both could have been decent players. The coach hated them both. That's the way it goes, sometimes.

Hated more than just them Drake.

What he and some players did to Ledger was pretty ordinary. Kid was probably not going to make it but he made sure of it.

Players? Enlighten me joff
Well, the lads decided to rough him up at training basically some tough love.

He was a young lad who was getting bullied. His parents came over and met with Lyon, who afterwards got Ledgers magnet and threw it in the bin.

Kid was stuffed from then on. Never had a chance.

Not saying this is unusual. Tough environment a footy club. Shape up or ship out.

Would love Tommy Lynch to return. Would be ideal for our forward structure but would raise a few interesting questions. Say he plays the same role he does at Adelaide which allows Membrey more time inside 50; who is our deep target? Bruce or McCartin?

As much as I’d love Sloane I do think it’s wishful thinking, I would be going very hard at Sydney’s JLloyd. Would be massive for midfield/defence as an outside ball distributed. Those two alone would make our 2019 22 look a whole lot better..

B: Webster, Austin, Geary
HB: Coffield, Carlisle, Roberton
C: Lloyd, Dunstan, Sinclair
HF: Billings, Lynch, Membrey
F: Long, Bruce, Gresham
R: Longer, Steven, Ross
Int: Acres, Newnes, Steele, Clark

Obviously very early but still plenty of tough decisions to make..
Agree with everything...
Except putting lynch at chf.
Hes not a chf. Plays 3rd to 2 other talls.
Runs up wing and hff.
Would be good for us though.

I was trying to think logically of who the ruck we are after could be and I think you've nailed it.
Elite ruck with age and leadership.
Would potentially not cost too much and would immediately drastically improve our ruck situation. Would allow us to trade both Hickey and Longer without much scrutiny and just have lewi and roma as depth.
The other options like Witts, Sinclair, Lycett, Preuss just dont tick the same boxes.

Siposs never had the work ethic to become a player. Super talented player but the reason he never made it in the AFL is 100% his own fault.

Hopefully he has learnt his lesson and doesn't make the same mistake with his new opportunity in america.

Siposs played one year under Lyon if I’m correct? And then had two coaches after that to prove himself. I’m sure Lyon was a campaigner to many, but Siposs had plenty of opportunities to prove himself.
