Well, the lads decided to rough him up at training basically some tough love.

He was a young lad who was getting bullied. His parents came over and met with Lyon, who afterwards got Ledgers magnet and threw it in the bin.

Kid was stuffed from then on. Never had a chance.

Not saying this is unusual. Tough environment a footy club. Shape up or ship out.

For some reason Gaertner walked out after showing a lot of promise. Hutchings is another who did ok at another club.

I think he suffers from Sippos Syndrome where people's fantasy of what he will become exceed his capabilities to reach it...
He’s shown more than Sipposs ever did. And if our development and game plan was better he’d be showing a whole lot more. Was building to a very good season before he was injured.

Siposs played one year under Lyon if I’m correct? And then had two coaches after that to prove himself. I’m sure Lyon was a campaigner to many, but Siposs had plenty of opportunities to prove himself.
You can do a lot of damage to a young man's confidence in one year. Tommy was doomed from the start and Arryn never recovered from being an outsider. He was that sort of individual. He needed the lovin' from the the start. If RL didn't love you, you soon felt it. One of his few weaknesses as a coach.

The dark side of The Bubble.

You're in or out with coaches like Lyon, and he definitely would have set up an environment amongst the players. Would have really appealed to the more elitist players. Creates a tight top group but zero depth.

Along with his low scoring game plan depends on nothing going wrong to succeed. If footy were that perfect, he'd be a premiership winning dynasty coach.

Maybe we should be looking at the potential in the Freo seconds.

My mate played first grade league in Brisbane when the Brisbane comp was just about as good as Sydney.
He said the first graders and their wags wouldn't even talk to the reserve graders and when he finally got selected for firsts was told not to associate.
It probably is a thing in most sports.

The coaches have ruined or at best, ******ed Acres' progress. Put him in the midfield, leave him there and see how he goes. AR has no idea in raising players to AFL level. The last five years proves that. If they have the balls to put in a decent, proven senior coach, we will watch the likes of Acres, Billings, Ross, Dunstan, McCartin and Billings improve. He's a lemon. What more evidence do you need? This list is not a 2/10/1 list, no matter which way you look at it. He should go back to running an electrical store, where he belongs. He has no idea how to develop and inspire young men to reach their peak. You have five years of data on that one.
According to you, trout picks spuds. So on that logic, the players you mention won't be any good anyway.

RL only had a ‘low scoring’ game plan at the Saints after Roo ripped his hamstring in 2010. In 2009, when he had been coach for a few years, we scored the 4th most of any team. I dare say we would have had similar scoring numbers in 2010 if Roo had stayed healthy.

Freo RL is a different story though.

I doubt this is true for obvious reasons

But don't let that stop you from talking shit and implying systematic bullying was in place.

TFWF has picked spuds, but he's also picked a few goodun's. Our lack of development is as big a problem as our recruiting. If you were paying attention to my posts rather than just trying to pot me, youd've seen that.

I love potting you. :)

I was a serious question...
And I love being potted by you, you giant of a man! TFWF is gone. Did some good things but on balance, vds66, he was an abject failure and has us where we are now. SL saw straight through him. Unlike Martha Stewart , he was not a good thing for our club. I shudder to think what his next job at the club will be, as SL has hinted at. He's ****** up everything he's touched at Carlton and the saints, so why would you keep him on in any capacity? Boot studder. Canteen? The guy is one if the great survivors . Incompetent corkhead who keeps getting a gig. Unbelievable.

And half way through the meeting his old man answered his mobile and started chatting to someone - ignoring RTB. I would have binned the magnet too.

i thought it was an evolution. It got more and more defensive as time went on.
Not just Roo.

What if trout himself didn't want to do the job next year?

I hate other teams!

Can blame Fisher & Gram for that from what I’ve heard....

Geez our senior core had some really scum arrogant campaigners in there. The last things guys want to hear from teammates is them telling you “why are you here again? That’s right, just to make up the numbers, not that you’ll ever get a game you spud” etc etc

Pretty sure it was Kosi that mentioned the incident on a podcast.

Longmembrey?
I find it unlikely for one Ross spent less than 12 months with ledger. Ross also debuted ledger before any other draftee in the same class. After he was the best performed in the NAB game. Ledger then did a serious hammy. Ross personally drove him for scans etc. Ledger spent significant time on the injury list in Ross's one season with ledger. Ledger was pretty much the equivalent of someone like crowden is this season. Albeit without the dropping due to poor performance.

Ledger was still listed and played beyond Ross being at the club. If his name was in the bin then why did Ross play him before others. Why did he drive him in for his scans and say he was taking him under his wing. Why did he not get delisted that year?

Now I do think Ross had issues with how he managed players especially the younger ones. The book goes into this in detail and said it was a flaw of Ross's. He was far too brutal with the players that were not the stars. Including putting their careers outside of football into jeopardy. Ross also hated private school kids and those from good backgrounds.

Ledger didn't have a manager also. He had a family member doing that for him. So maybe there's some mix up here and confusion.
