Our list is Poo , we need to beg , steal , pillage trade for extra picks inside top 20 .
And sack Elshaug before he f@#ks us again .
We have 5 vacancies in our senior team .
One good draft and a quality FA away from being dangerous again.

With the dogs almost a lock for the spoon. Is it time to make a mega offer to the bont. With boyds contract they cant offer him no where near as much as we could. Lachie hunter would be nice as well hes tough and clinical...

I would be trading ross and roberton for first rounders. Acres can take over ross spot. White can take robertons spot. Done deal say pick 5 and 10...

Offer gaff and sloane around 1 mil each look Into dahlhaus as well might be worth is as a free agent but the other two first.

As our first rounder looks to be top 6ish we need to keep it no matter what so if either west coast or Adelaide will match we need to price them out.

I'd look to trade out hickey and maybe someone like newness if the offers are good.

Play the kids and hit the Draft with a top 5 pick.
Trade our future first for a first this year.
Trade one of Ross, Roberton, Steven for a first if possible.

Offer Sloane stupid money to make it happen, trading one of the above also makes this possible. $1.2M enough?

That said.
Don't think the Saints will have the balls to do any of the above. More likely dilute our strong first pick to two shitter picks, Draft two average players rather than the stars we need.

I think we need a second round pick - what we trade to get it I don't know but we do.

Pick up a top 6 ranked kid like Walsh or Lukacious or even a tall fwd in Max King, (someone to build a team around) whomever is the BEST AVAILABLE REGARDLESS OF POSITION

Go hard at free agency as I'm pretty sure these deals would be signed up already, i.e. if Gaff and Sloane are coming the deals would be done by now or just about done going on past history with other deals

Not sure anyone will trade a future first for a first this year - the draft pool is that good. If a club did then we would take it gladly - even if it is say pick 12 from a club this year for next year pick 6 from us

Agreed but would love to see an agressive move by us here. Get a player involved and make something happen.

Yes - we need to do something. A first round and three fourth round picks does not read well for mine

That article is pretty much spot on. We need to target two midfield guns - Sloane and Gaff would be amazing. Put those two in our team and we are a completely new prospect.

Looking back at our successful period around 2004, it was kick-started by aggressive trading for the likes of Gehrig and Hamill. That's what we need right now - we have a decent crop of young players but no top end mature talent.

We have to keep our first round pick for this draft unless we got an absolute steal due to someone nominating us (eg. Tom Mitchell to Hawthorn for 14) and we have to go hard at free agency. It’s a tough task given our current performances but it’s just what we have to do if we want to be competing next year.

If we can get one of Rankine, Lukosius or Walsh and a Free Agent that is a great addition. I’m really hoping one of Hugh and Clavarino can develop and put pressure on Brown and Carlisle because a) I do not trust Carlisle to maintain his cool if we go through a rough patch, so we may need to drop him due to attitude and b) Brown is limited in what he offers; when we’re not seriously under the pump he can shut down almost any key forward, but ideally we want someone who can not only keep a forward quiet but can use he ball well, like Carlisle.

Have a bit of an axe to grind in regard to our trading last year...

We picked up Logan Austin from Port Adelaide and swapped third round and 4th round picks from the 2018 draft. We also swapped them our future second round pick for pick 34 and a future 4th rounder or something.

Fast forward to now, and Austin appears to be behind Nathan Brown, Hugh Goddard and Darragh Joyce for the full-back position. We also used that pick 34 from Port to draft Clavarino, who is a defender. Surely if Austin was a good pick-up he'd be putting pressure on Brown at this stage, but he's already behind a guy that hasn't played in years due to injury and an Irishman who hasn't played AFL football yet.

On top of that, our future 2nd rounder that we gave to Port will now most likely end up being a pick in the mid-20s.

It was a really poor couple of trades by us, and at the end of it we've ended up with a plethora of defenders (which is one area where we are stacked) and a massive gap in our drafting potential at this years draft.

Senseless trading in my opinion.

.

Yes nice daydream. But WTF would such players want to join us now? And especially the two of them at once.
