I just think we shouldn't be picking up talls ever again. At least not until we have some semblance of an AFL quality midfield.
We can make do with our current rucks. Our current key forwards have plenty of potential and just need games. Our current key backs can't all get a game even when we have heaps of injuries/suspension.
Picking up Lycett is going to make our list demographically worse, adding to our logjam in the ruck and forward. As we saw with Pierce, there's some potential already on our list, but unless we get them consistent games we'll never know if they're good enough.
If we pick up Lycett and then trade out Longer or Hickey and Bruce or McCartin or something - maybe it's ok. But I have a strong feeling we'll get him then fail to exit any of the others.
That will leave us with players with potential mouldering and losing value in the twos. And we'll still be losing games because our midfield will still be poor.
