The ruck situation is going to be the elephant in the room all year if its isn't addressed on draft day, which is highly unlikely.
.
Personally I am not fussed about our rucks that much as recent history has shown that teams in the premiership window can always go out and get a serviceable, or better ruckman, when required. ie Ottens, Jolly at 2 clubs, Nankervis, McEvoy
More important to me is to build the rest of your team, and in particular the midfield.
Getting a ruckman later also means you can get a ready to play ruck. No need to grow your own which is a very hot and miss affair.
Secondly with our new basketballer Alabakis, Marshall, Pierce and Longer we already have four rucks for two ruck spots. all our young to youngish and so need time in the ruck to develop. If we go out and get a VFL/WAFL level ruck as well then development of what we have is going to suffer. There is little point having brought on Sam if we are not going to ruck him with Sandringham. Outsourcing him to say Frankston cannot be good to try and fast-track him.
For a similar line of thought I am hoping we gain Smith or Rankine rather than Max King. Though MK ca also play forward.
If we gain MK we are going to have a glut of talls to play ruck or key forward and the development of at least some of them is going to suffer.
Rucks: Alabakis, Pierce and Longer
Ruck Forwards: Marshall and King
Key Forwards: Paddy, Bruce and Battle (Plus with Membrey playing in the "third tall")
