Think you've overlooked Himmelburg, sort of thing I usually do.. Zac Williams has always played as the 7th back and I think there's another back spot at the expense of a mid.

Agree with Bokonon_ , we tend to play a 7 man defense, with Williams rotating to mid. Either Kenners, Buntine, HH or Perryman makes the 22 at the expense of Setterfield or Griffen.

After his finals series I find it hard to see HH not starting the season in Seniors.

Haven’t overlooked. I think we are too tall if he plays.
II think he will, as the third tall and he adds defensive pressure up forward. The idea is to elicit different opinions though. There's no right and wrong, certainly not aq 6 months out from a game. Didn't see him in the reserves that's all. Perhaps I overlooked.

a lot of time to go and things will change but I think the game has changed with tall forwards being less effective v a good zone defence I see a structure going forward of
2 Tall forwards
1 ruck
1 swingman
2 Tall defenders
it could depend on match ups and but I see definites as
Patton Cameron
Lobb
Davis
And then a battle between
Corr/Tomlinson/Haynes/HH
for the last 2 spots and they all have great versatility but I think they still have some development left in them

A big factor in tall forwards not being as effective is the way umpires allow defenders to hold, chop and scrag at will. If the AFL decides it wants a return of the big forward, it will direct a clampdown on defenders.

I bet we we don't play two tall defenders.Unless you rate Davis and Corr as medium defenders. How would a zone work?

F: Brett Deledio (30, 250) Jonathon Patton (24, 77) Harrison Himmelberg (21, 16)

I: Adam Kennedy (25, 83) Lachie Whitfield (23, 90) Jacob Hopper (20, 23) Ryan Griffen (31, 241)

E: Matt Buntine (24, 41) Will Setterfield (19, 2) Matt De Boer (27, 153)

Wouldn’t be surprised if you went in with just Cameron and Patton as the only talls forward with a bunch of smalls pressuring but I think Himmelberg showed enough forward to play the three down there. I expect Setterfield will play a lot of games next year and may already be best 22 but I didn’t slot him in yet. I think if Griffen can get fit there is still a spot for him in the team. Don’t think it’s a bad idea for him to spend a bit of time at half back too.

I think it's close. It's pretty clear Griffen is favoured by the coaches more than our BF community. They're the ones that count. I dont want him anywhere but in the mid rotation, possibly resting forward though. Defensive inside mid is where he's most useful, we have specialist half backs these days.
I think Taranto's future is in the mids primarily as well and I want to find a spot for De Boer.
Cant really say drop anyone to fit him in though, and Taranto is in the 22 somewhere.

Roughly looking at these suggested best 22 it seems there are about 18 - 20 guys who have locked down a spot with Taranto being the only one with less then 50 games experience, which highlights how the core of the 22 are right in that sweet spot when comes to chasing a flag. Which leaves the preseason to sort out the rest of the spots and like the past 3 season won't be surprised if someone unexpected pops up and makes a best 22 spot there own.

Agree with teams above pretty much.If with pick 11or27 we select a smallish pressure forward who can kick goals it would be perfect addition.A bit of pace would be a bonus

Could it be Finlayson? Biggest problem I see is we are swimming in tall backs, and he might have to find another opening.

So after both drafts we can see how the teams can line up next year
I don't see any of the draftees straight into the 22 and the most likely for games would be Bonar and the i can see the club going light in his first season but hopefully he can be in the lineup for 5-10 games

Shaw Davis Haynes
Williams Corr Whitfield
Scully Ward Shiel
Greene Cameron Kelly
TT Patton MDB
Lobb Coniglio Hopper
Deledio Tomlinson Griffen A Kennedy

NEAFL looks to have better depth with the pick up of the mature players and I can see a few players switching between playing back and forward to see where they settle. And also I would count 8 players who play the mid/forward role to an extent
This is not a realistic team as the 4 players on the bench are all over 190 but it gives an idea of how the team may lineup

Buntine Mohr Stein
Cumming Finlayson D Buckley
Perryman Bonar Lloyd
Tiziani HH Shipley
Daniels Sproule Langdon
Simpson Setterfield Reid
Keefe Taylor Flynn J Buckley

Apologies if I missed anyone but it looks like 44 on the list and i am interested in seeing who people think would be most likely for AFL games from my NEAFL team

Clearest cut best 22 and other 22 I can remember

That’s not to say the likes of HH, Setterfield or Perryman won’t get significant game time, but as “best” goes it actually looks pretty obvious.

A lot can change over the preseason but I would have Buntine, Setterfield, Perryman HH and Simpson as pushing into my 22 and then the next 10 guys it is very open as to who would get the next opportunity so they should all be pushing them selves over the preseason

I can see Leon still looking to have 3 talls (Patton, Cameron & HH) in the forward line (at least to start). I'd also prefer a proper back (A Kennedy) to replace Wilson as the 7th back, but suspect we'll push Whitfield or Griffen back (perhaps others too, at different times) to enable both Griffen & Hopper in the team at the same time. That's a risk for me with Griffen, Hopper & Deledio all a touch slow - only room for 2 at most in my book - but Leon will undoubtedly show faith in the veterans.

In NEAFL, we've got a bunch of interchangeable players both mid/forward & mid/back, so a 'line up' is hard to judge as I reckon there will be a lot of experimentation.

Hence, the possible teams without any injuries as I see them likely:

Shaw Davis Haynes
Williams Corr Whitfield
Scully Ward Kelly
Greene Cameron Himmelberg
TT Patton MDB
Lobb Coniglio Shiel
Tomlinson Hopper Griffen Deledio

NEAFL:

Buntine Mohr Taylor
Stein Finlayson Kennedy
D Buckley Perryman Cumming
Langdon Sproule Bonar
Daniels J Buckley Tiziani
Simpson Shipley Setterfield
Keefe Reid Lloyd Flynn
