Turner a Rawlings type. You know, not glamorous but *gets stuff done*. You keep thinking a cleaner, faster, better skilled version should be there but end of the day you win more games with him than without him and it will take 10 years for that fancy new player to come along that displaces him, by which point he's had a great career and done more than more highly credentialed blokes that have come and gone in the meantime can dream of.

Agree its a good side but I'd swap Durdin for Preuss. There's no one to cover for Tarrant and Thompson. I'd also like Hrovat and Ahern in there but can't see would deserves to be dropped at this stage. Guess they just wait for the inevitable injuries to Garner, Wood and Waite.

Good call. I think Brad will give both rucks a go but I feel like Rat is one of his favourites too.

The team is starting to take shape and I reckon we can pencil in the following players:

HB: MacMillan, Thompson, Clarke
C: McDonald, Cunnington, Waite
HF: Atley, Wood, Hrovat
F: Turner, Brown, Ziebell

R: Goldstein, Jacobs, Higgins

Int: Dumont, Davies-Uniake, Simpkin, Hartung.

I left Garner out due to his absence in the practice format. There may be a player come out on the bench for another tall, but that should be it.

Will need a big effort from Goldy / Preuss to feed us the ball but might be able to kick a score against a no-name backline.
God l hope it's not 34dg & 99% humidity.
That might see us slowly cooked.

I actually think most spots are locked in for round 1, with 2 spots in defence up for grabs and 3 bench spots, so i have 17 locks

third tall: Durdin or EVW, but more likely they put macmillan there, I prefer Durdin cos he can go chb also and let thompson go third tall
HBF: Ahern, Mountford, Murphy Clarke, Hibberd, Clarke I think will get chosen

then 3 bench spots out of Zurhaar, Hrovat, Ahern, Jacobs, Dumont, Daw, Mountford, Hibberd,Murphy

EVW will play instead of Daw - especially in Cairns - but that will be team I am sure.

On paper its a good team - it should be - we are at full strength ex Sammy Wright - and its a very experienced team with just 2 players under 21.

You would think we should beat a weakened Gold Coast by 8 goals given that line up....nekminnet....
