It all began in Round One with the Bloods
We did little to quell the thoughts we were duds
Round two, and the Dogs were our fight
With a crushing win we set our season alight
The Cats came to call in Round three
Our first win at Optus much to our glee
It was three in a row when we won in round four
The Suns came, saw and were shown the door
Round five at the 'G against the Blues
A hard win in what should have been a cruise
The Dockers and a hostile Optus we faced in round six
Finally, we had added tough wins to our bag of tricks
Another game, another win, the Power cut
Round seven came and we won in a strut
The Giants in Sydney were our Round eight
Were we for real? A win settled that debate
In round nine we faced the ultimate test
We proved the Tigers might not be the very best
Ten weeks in, and it was finally time to break the curse
Beating the Hawks proved we could win no matter how adverse
A familiar last quarter fadeout once again
But we beat the Saints in Perth and made it ten
The Swans we faced once more after the bye
And the streak was broken as we failed to fly
Round fourteen our game fell on a Thursday
The dons had our measure much to our dismay
A loss to the Crows made it three in a row
A familiar story that we wished we could forego
We needed a win and we needed it quick
The Giants came and we won by barely a kick
Round seventeen was the Pies at the 'G
A win soured by Nicnat doing his knee
The Dogs again and we were back on a roll
We dominated all day and won in a stroll
North in the South was a test too hard
Another bad loss had us all on our guard
The second derby gave us more bragging rights
But a certain someone caused us plenty more fights
Port in Adelaide, behind all game, deja vu
And after the siren McGovern's kick held true
We got cocky and the Demons walked away victors
A loss that hit our chances with the premiership predictors
When the home and away season came to an end
With a win over the Lions we were ready to contend
Finals came in a cracker against the Pies
A close win as we kept our eyes on the prize
The demons of our past in the prelim were gone
A massive win meant it was time to move on
It was Collingwood we faced in the big dance
And we won when nobody ever gave us a chance
We lifted the premiership cup with an almighty cheer
Not a chance at the start, we had made 2018 our year.
