Article on SEN listing 35 players who may look for an opportunity elsewhere and the clubs who should look at them-

From us-
Ryan Bastinac- Crows, Magpies, Bombers.
Jake Barrett- Blues, Bombers, Suns.

To us-
Ben Crocker, James Stewart, Shaun McKernan, Tom Sheridan, Brayden Preuss, Billy Longer.
No, we shouldn't look at any of those players actually. What a list.

Hearing whispers from a couple of sources that Shiel is being coerced by the Lions. He's not totally set on a Victorian club at this stage. Whether that is this year or the next is unclear. Another name that popped up is Dalhaus from the Bulldogs.

Are they un/reliable? Are your sources BF posters? You sure they didn't mean Liam Shiels?

Incriminating photos?

Greg Swann on The Roar Deal today was asked about the stories linking us to Cam Ellis-Yolmen and Mitch Wallis.

"We want good quality if we can and that's not denigrating the 2 guys you mentioned, they are both solid players but um yer we are wanting really good players."

An emphasis was placed on "we are wanting really good players", he didn't rule out CEY or Wallis but listening to the interview they would be a fallback option if at all.

IMO Noble, Ambrogio and co have a surprise in for us lined up for this trade period.
My confidence in these people running the club only goes higher after hearing this.

I listened to the podcast too and I wouldn't read to much into it - obviously we want to bring in the best players possible but I didn't get the sense anything big was in the wings.

Swann's comment was in response to a direct question re CYE and Wallis and saying that he didn't want to denigrate (which I think it did) them and that they were solid players and they wanted really good players was telling IMO.

The surprise in for us this trade period is just me reading between the lines listening to interviews with Swann and Noble during this season which together with the above are a pattern.

Even if there isn't anybody in the wings - I just like the approach. Shouldn't be surprised. The trades last year were for two very good players.

Thoughts on these out of contracted players. Adam Oxley, George Horlin-Smith, Jesse Lonergan.

Oxley, 25 Years Old. Slightly older then the next generation. Pretty sure he lived most his life in QLD, forgive me if I am wrong. Had two good seasons at Collingwood on the Half Back line. Upgrade on a Lester maybe? Derik Hine Quoted: “We all know he can play at the level, it’s just a matter now of him getting that opportunity, through fitness more than anything,”. One worth looking at I think but would be in that 15-30 best player range.

Horlin-Smith, 25 Years Old, same age bracket as above. Played 4 games in the midfield this year in a star studded midfield at the cats. Averaged 17 touches for the 4 games. Not convinced about him, but could be an option.

Lonergan, 24, High Draft Pick in 2012. Rate highly and would be very keen to get him down the road. For nothing as well. Could see him playing better footy at a fresh club.
Personally, none of those options excite me and would simply be handy depth players. Can't see many clubs where any of those 3 would be best 22. If we can manage to get Lonergan on the cheap, then might be worth a shot. I think there are a few on this board that rate him.

That would be huge news if that was to happen. The only midfielders in the competition I would rather at the Lions would be Josh Kelly, Clayton Oliver or Patrick Cripps.

Hearing rumours of Hall from the Suns and another player who I can't for the life of me remember who it was. Plays similar style to Hall from memory. Interesting if true... not a huge fan though.

Someone like Shiel would have the potential to accelerate our rebuild by a year.

Preferably he’d be a couple of years younger but beggars can’t be choosers.

A guy the quality of Dylan Shiel would be the difference between a good side and a very good side.
Would cost a fortune, especially contracted. Even if he did want want to come to us l am not sure if we would pay the price. Would cost us our 1st this year and our 1st next year which Nbole wont want to do.
