Every win we have and every loss GC has makes our trade last year look better and better

I’ll put my hand up and say I thought it was silly - but if we can keep this form up - it may be genius

Thing is...even without this season going so well (so far) it was a smart trade imo. But the best bit was the fact we fact we backed ourselves in.

I thought at the time it was worth a shot. Particularly as we wanted Ryan and Kelly. As it turned out, Geelong did an amazing deal with Gold Coast. pick 19 for Ablett and get back 24 ( Kelly ) and an exchange of 2nd and 4th rounders. Gold coast got reamed by us, Geelong and Fremantle .

I'm praying we can snare Luke English with one of our second rounders this year. Picking up 30 disposals and 2 to 3 goals a game at colts level. Won medal for best colts players as underager last year. Serious gun.
Just need to hide him somewhere.
Knightmare has english at 15 now in his power rankings so he hasnt gone unnoticed

90% of those he engages in - almost none because he isn't good at it

stats young man
From an article in the Herald. Not sure how to link it .

Jeremy McGovern the best one-on-one defender in the game ahead of Lynden Dunn, Alex Rance

West Coast’s Jeremy McGovern is the defensive one-on-one king, beaten just four times from 50 contests.

I agree about Gold Coast. Perhaps they should not be allowed to make their own trade decisions in future.

Kyle Hamersley and Luke Foley are also being very underated and look good mid prospects

We have not had a great recent track record with second rounders but that may have changed. 2017 haul - O Allen, Ryan, Ainsworth and Petrucelle and looking a like good talent, 2016 haul - Rotham is building some form after an underwhelming 2017 and 2015 haul - Tom Cole is really starting to show the goods and Partington is OK. I liked the trade with Gold Coast at the time but was nervous about our ability to pick decent second rounders. With 2 second rounders this year, I am gaining in confidence and there will be some excellent picks at our 2 second rounders.

Kim Hackdorn just said on 6pr that Gov has made up his mind and he's leaving the Eagles, reckons he's off to Freo on a 6 year 1.2m a year deal.

How does this guy still get air time.
If freo are willing to pay that then see ya gov enjoy wearing purple and getting boooooed .
We should not get even close to matching that .

I would be very surprised if Gov leaves.

Extremely unlikely imo, but if he does, then good luck to him.

Have enjoyed his work so far and would love for him to stay, but I don't think signing him for 5 or 6 years at 1.2 - 1.4 million/yr would be a wise move(if the rumours of those numbers are even true).

Having said that, from the outside looking in he appears to be happy at WC and he's playing in a good up and coming team with possible success on the horizon. Also doesn't really come across as the mercenary type.

But hey, what would I know - just another flog with an opinion and access to a keyboard.

Gov, if you're reading this, I will shout you BBQ wings once a week for the rest of your career if you stay.

Don't join the purple flogs mate, you don't want that tarnishing your legacy.
