If GC17 bids pick #2 or #3 on Scott, they should have their license canceled immediately.
Would be the right move by GC to bid on Scott.

Let’s say they pick a Rankine, Lukoshish or Walsh. They will be looking to get out after 2 years and the cycle continues of losing players.

I’ll bet my left nut they make an early bid for Scott.

I'm really not sure GC will bid on a bloke prematurely unless it was to keep the team he chooses honest (and even then, why risk) especially as Scott, in this scenario, would have already turned them down. It's doesn't really present the makings of a fruitful relationship flat out trying to grab a bloke that's said no.

Yep. In the instance Bailey nominates us GC would be insane to bid on him stupidly early (e.g. 2 or 3). If we didn't match it would because it was way too early which Bailey would understand, and he would surely resent them for doing so.

You simply have to be willing to let these guys go to another club. You rate them before the draft in order and if they're the best available at that pick minus the discount (even if higher than you'd hope) then so be it. You match and shrug your shoulders at the system.

On that... GWS are adding to the scuttlebutt with this article today. Definitely preparing their supporters for players moving a year out.

Also, that talk about Gubby Allen heading to St Kilda has been proven to be false.

This is a great point. GWS will be at breaking strain in regards to contracts next year. Tomlinson, Kelly,Shiel,Coniglio and Haynes.. that’s a fair chunk of talent. We should be doing everything to try and prise either Kelly or Shiel this season

Why the hell would GC deliberately waste their own time and picks securing Scott if he didn't nominate them? It's just as bad as any of their other non-QLD picks, that just says Scott intends on leaving GC at any point.

If he nominates us, GC are still wasting resources bidding on him.
100% they will bid on him if he nominates us.

They take that risk with every player. Might as well try it on good local lads.
Thats exactly what they should be doing instead of wasting the entire competitions time with their players who have no intent on playing for them, like Bailey Scott should he nominate us.

Do you know what I just meant?

What does that tell you about Scotts intentions on staying in QLD if he nominates Geelong or us? it's not a puzzle.
personally, i have a feeling that IF he nominates us, and we are outbid by GC, he wont be too disappointed, i mean he gets to stay in the environment he is currently in....

You've missed the point. No one in the competition wants to play for them.

And don't say Lachie Weller because he's the exception that proves the rule. Sent pick 2 to Fremantle for a slicker version of Trent Dumont.

So they get him, he plays there for a season or two and eventually leaves because his nomination clearly indicates he would leave.

Yeah another stellar drafting choice from Gold Coast, makes a whole lot of sense.
Not one kid in the draft except a few Qld born kids would want to go to GC.

They have a shitload more chance of convincing Scott who currentlly lives and has family ties in GC than any Vic, SA, WA kid of staying.

I'd just love for Brisbane to bid on Nick Blakey.

That list doesn't look that great at Syd. Wouldn't surprise me if they drop next year. I think the signs are there they are hanging by a thread. I know some players are not in great form that had been for years, but maybe they're on the downward spiral.
