IF we get Gaff this year then I really don't care if we're forced to take TT with our first pick because we're getting Jelly next year.

Gaff, TT and Jelly in consecutive years is pretty special and LDU will basically be a new recruit next year too.

Might take a season for them to all 'click' but when it all comes together our midfield will be scary!
Not as confident as everyone we end up with Kelly at or never lone next year. Of cause hope i am proven wrong. Wont be convinced until he is actually in the Blue and White strips.

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster here.

Just wanted to hear some thoughts on the potential for us to make a play for Gold Coast’s Lynch compo pick should they get one.

Seems they’re probably at the point of putting a priority on picking up players who are likely to stick around and we have a certain big, talented Queenslander floating around. Not to mention a few others from up that way.

Perhaps we see this as an opportunity to move up with a package of our first, Preuss (who I’m loathe to trade but you gotta give up something of value) and whatever else might be required to get it over the line (It might take a lot more, I don’t know).

Gives us a shot at an uber talent like Rankine etc and saves us the worry of a bid coming before Thomas.
With Witts playing well would they give up that pick for a #2 ruckman?

Hoping we make a play for Jamie Elliott, low risk - high reward similar to Ahern. I'm confident we could get his injuries under control and make him one of the best small forwards in the game again!

Anyone know if Marley and Jamie are mates or close? Could get him cheap like we did with Marley. Probably a third-fourth rounder would do it!

Valid point, pretty unlikely you’d think. Which means Preuss may have to be the steak knives if we’re willing to attach a bigger name to the deal.

All depends who they want from us vs how highly we rate the kid we’d be targeting at pick 3. Sounds like we might be giving up a lot but we’re talking real star potential at that pick and not a lot of opportunities come up where a team might be open to trading out of that position. Of course that’s a big might.

P.S. Gee I miss Carlos Hernandez

Would be happy with Elliott cheap but would you give Garner away for a 3rd rounder? Not sure the pies would do it. And we need our 3rd's this year for points so we may want him cheaper anyway. Hard to guess his value.

If we can't get Garner right, are we going to be able to get Elliott right?

Elliott is a gun and if not injured he as good as any small forward. Every team would love to have him. How good would it be to have Elliott and Garner injury free and in form.

Elliott being out of contract lessons his value

3rd rounder for him would be fair and for that price its worth the risk

Personally I'd prefer to have Elliott over Garner, when Elliott was fit he was taking screamers and kicking bags of 5 and his forward pressure was elite which is what we need. We need an explosive small forward to support big Benny Brown, Waite, Daw (when he's forward) turner is good at applying pressure but never hits the scoreboard so I feel like Elliott could apply the pressure, he can take marks and he can kick goals. Would love us to pick him up for the right trade/deal. We've managed to get a lot of our players fit and free from injuries I'm confident our staff could do it again.

The questions I have with Elliott and trying to trade for him is will the pick be too valuable points wise to part with and would he just be coming in to fill a spot that would have Garner, Walker or even Tarryn Thomas as a first year player all able to fill?

He wont be filling Garners spot, he'll be next to him in the medical room getting his lower back/hamstrings constantly rehabbed...

Jay-Z: Suns Could Lose Five Star Players
Lynch the tip of the iceberg?

Triple M Footy’s Jay Clark has suggested that Tom Lynch’s departure might only be the tip of the iceberg for Gold Coast this off-season.

Jay-Z reckons the Suns could be on the receiving end of a massive fire sale with Jack Martin, Steven May, David Swallow and Aaron Hall all potentially joining new clubs as well.

“Jack Martin, I think Essendon have got a very strong interest in him. Collingwood are into Steven May, David Swallow I think the Perth clubs have been having a chat to him for about 4-5 years,” he told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Friday.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Aaron Hall leave either, the Melbourne footy club were after him.”

Jay-Z didn’t blame Lynch at all for deciding to leave Gold Coast after eight barren seasons up there.

Unfortunately, I can't see Pruess being worth pick 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 (where ever GC's compo pick maybe) even with our first pick thrown in.

I’d be surprised if Gold Coast want a trade considering they’ll get pick 3 in an outstanding draft as compo

Agree it’d take more, just thinking it might get their attention given the talks of a mass exodus of players.

This is also the club that parted with pick 2 to get Weller home last year.
