Jay-Z: Suns Could Lose Five Star Players
Lynch the tip of the iceberg?

Triple M Footy’s Jay Clark has suggested that Tom Lynch’s departure might only be the tip of the iceberg for Gold Coast this off-season.

Jay-Z reckons the Suns could be on the receiving end of a massive fire sale with Jack Martin, Steven May, David Swallow and Aaron Hall all potentially joining new clubs as well.

“Jack Martin, I think Essendon have got a very strong interest in him. Collingwood are into Steven May, David Swallow I think the Perth clubs have been having a chat to him for about 4-5 years,” he told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Friday.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Aaron Hall leave either, the Melbourne footy club were after him.”

Jay-Z didn’t blame Lynch at all for deciding to leave Gold Coast after eight barren seasons up there.

Jarryd Lyons dropped again. Clearance beast.

5.83 a game last year, 7.38 this year. Better than Cripps, Mitchell, Cunners.

Averages five stoppage clearances a game, rated 'elite' for contested possesions (14.1 per game) and ground ball gets.

Last three years tackle averages per game - 4.70, 4.61, 5.75. Very strong defensive numbers.

Disposals per game: 2016 - 21.65, 2017 - 24.61, 2018 - 24.88.

Goal assist ratio in his last year at Adelaide was just about a league high of 0.90 from 20 games.

Creativity has tapered off as role changed, but he's no slouch using the footy.

Honestly anyone talking about Wallis is kidding themselves, this bloke comes cheaper and has a clean bill of health.

If our main targets fell through, I'd be making him a potential priority, especially considering he's another extractor that gives Higgins the ability to play outside more often.

We made him a decent offer two years ago and he thought GC was the better choice so that’s a pass for me.

This entire trade doesn't make Lynch look honest with the club, his teammates or the public and the media's fascination with it doesn't make it any better.
He stuck around with the club he was drafted to for 8 years. A very unsuccessful club. There are massive limitations on how much he can commit to another team, and players in general RARELY speak about changing clubs mid season. I actually respect him a bit for saying it now instead of dropping the bomb in trade week. He gave the gold coast time to sort their shit out.

The system is the flaw, not the player IMO. At the same time though, would we prefer players signing contracts with other teams mid season?

I know, he's fine to leave. I expect anyone from GC to, but the way its been handled doesn't make him look good. He didn't really give any time, the Suns moreso said give us the answer now or else and thats how the statement came about. So its more the clubs impatience than his.

Either way its just another ugly trade for the Suns and their decisions to handle it have made them look bad, again. Because its a horribly run footy club.
