another out of contract player that would be worth getting is Seedsman, getting a lot of ball on the wing and has pace and a long penetrating kick

would be on low salary but due for a increase
is a Victorian also, think when he left the pies we showed interest
No often I agree with you, O Mayor of Cocktopus City, but on this you are correct.

So , we go from targeting Elite level talent Martin & Kelly to Seedsman ... really ??

Aaron Hall wants out of the suns acording to the paper this morning. Is 27, probably has 5 years left in him. For the right price (and I reckon he's only worth a 3rd rounder at this point) I would be a big fan of going after him. Strikes me as a confidence player who needs a coach to back him in and allow him to play to his considerable strengths to succeed, which has been a hallmark of Brads coaching.

At his best he's an explosive, goalkicking midfielder with serious spark and X factor, and the addition of Anderson and Jacobs to the midfield probably leaves us with more leeway in regards to his defensive deficiencies. He's not a perfect footballer by any means, but who is? When he's on, there's very few players I like to watch play more. Tassie kid too.

I'd be keen on him if he's dirt cheap.

De Goey is overrated by Collingwood fans thinking he's the best kid in the game.

But he's still going to be a very good player and a potential AA forward/mid.

At 191/91kg's, he's 3cms & 3kgs bigger than Ziebell. He's also a fair bit more athletic than him.

Given our cap space I'd be putting a pretty significant contract in front of him.
Absolutely.

Imagine forward 50 with BB, Ziebell, Wood and DeGoey.

We had better stay away from Sloane now that he’s done a Lisfranc.
Just stay away from him full stop.

A 30 year old demanding $800k + who can't shake a tag.. No thanks.

Moore is out of contract as well at years end.
I haven't seen a lot of Collingwood but the bits and pieces I saw he didn't seem that remarkable, will he be a player?
Syd supposedly have made Moore their number one target.
They have to keep Moore over DeGoey which makes DeGoey gettable.

Either way, Collingwood are in a shit position here. They are going to have to pony up to keep him.

North has $2.5m+ in the cap spare, with Goldy's $900k coming off the books in 2019, St Kilda and Carlton seem to have around the $2m mark.

If Collingwood go after Lynch, they aren't offering De Goey more than $500k imo.

Paying $600k+ to retain a 22 year old with a few off field problems is a shit scenario.

I would be fine with a 5 year x $700k deal for De Goey, which stretches out to the next EBA anyway, he may be an AA by that stage, which would be unders in 2023..

They will also have to give Moore a pay rise.

Thinking again about our list cuts.

At this stage would think it'd be close to:

Morgan
Nielson
Waite*
Watson

Hrovat, Durdin and Mountford might find themselves in trouble too.

*As he's mentioned himself would depend on his and team form at the time.
Nielson and Mountford stay. Watson rookie. Thompson another year.

Durdin trade bait.

Hrovat, Morgan, and Waite gone. Goldstein on shaky ground. That's 5 list spots created.

Class dismissed.

Really?

Who are you replacing him with, the two blokes that can't run out a half of footy one out in the ruck, or the 19 year old kid?
If we need the money off the books I'd be more than happy going with Preuss and majak as the backup.

Goldstein has had 1 good game and serviceable in others. His fitness and ability to impact around the ground is largely overhyped at the moment. He's a very long way off of the player he was in 2015 and people are still optimistic that he'll get there for whatever reason. If he was willing to renegotiate his contract then by all means but he's barely offering a thing at the moment.

The "goldy can run out a game" excuse is getting tiresome because i still see brown needing to go in there and what is goldy doing when he's running around? Certainly not taking marks and picking up disposals.

I don't get what you mean by "money off the books".

Todd has an existing contract that has to be honored whether he is playing at North next year or not.

He does but he can be traded with North covering part of his salary. I'd rather get a pick in the 20-30 range for goldie and half of his salary.

You would play two players to cover for him just to save 300 grand?
