But you "desperately" need his type ......FWD / DEF Contested KPP ??

When every crows supporter is saying minimum first round pick for MM (with some saying 2 firsts or pick 1) I wouldn’t even bother trying to trade for him if you guys (the Adelaide supporters) share even some of the thoughts with the management in Adelaide. Dockers can’t afford to be giving up 1 first rounder, let alone 2 for quite frankly someone who has shown the exact same abilities as Cox (and Cox is younger), but just unable to stay on the park.

If MM wasn’t contracted what would you guys be happy with? Would you settle for less than a first rounder? If not then I’m just afraid not many teams are going to be even entertaining the idea of MM. Yes we realise he’s got potential, but every player on every list has potential. What has he shown now? Not enough to warrant 2 first round picks, pick 1 or IMO a top 10 pick. Dockers would be a lot better with a first round pick + Taberner and Cox than MM/Cox/Taberner. Dockers are set down back as well so it’s not like they’d be swinging him much anyways.

Now I realise MM is contracted, but he’s not someone I’m going to pay unrealistically just to get him into my rebuilding team.

I don't know how it gets done but for some reason I can see all of Gaff, McGovern, Shiel & Tom Lynch ending up at Hawthorn after this year's FA & Trade period.

Edit: And Brad Hill.

It would be such a Hawthorn thing to do and if I were clubs like North, Carlton and St Kilda, i'd be a bit worried these players would play for Hawthorn for less.

When he grows to key position size, perhaps. Brennan Cox puts up prospective numbers and isn't even as old as Mitch McGovern was when he was drafted, plus he is 195cm, as opposed to Mitch who we field midfielders taller than.

In this draft, pick 1 is worth way more than pick 4. Probably picks 4 and 14 would get it done, maybe even more
We heard that in 2013 too. There's only a handful of drafts where pick 1 goes on to be the best player.

Brad Hill to the Lions for our 2nd rounder, currently 22.

Seb Ross to the Lions for our 2019 first rounder with Saints 2019 2nd rounder coming back our way.

No problems .....so the urgent need to get FWD's was a fallacy ......Your list is just fine, i hear what you're saying

We did 10 for Gibbs.

16 in 2017 for 19 in 2018 - a trade we'd still do.

Our 2018 second for your 2018 third. Our mistake was we thought it'd be like the previous swap, and would just mean sliding down three or four picks. We didn't anticipate the injuries, and that a few unexpected losses would take us from fifteen wins and top four to 12 wins and 12th.

Carlton: 10, 16 & 73(2017), 25 (2018)
Adelaide: Gibbs, 77 (2017), 19, 37 (2018)

You can justify, cut up and manipulate the deal anyway you like; repeatedly posting that SOS 'caved' is ridiculous IMO and a view that only you and a handful of Adelaide posters would share and posture on this board. Neutrals and a lot of Crows supporters on your board widely agree that it was in our favour by a fair way and that SOS clearly got the better of Reid. A lot of Crows posters are outrightly furious about it and are only (slightly) consoled by the fact you were able to fleece Brisbane for Cameron.

The fact that you were unable to perform as a club this season just sweetened it for us. I would hazard a guess that Adelaide/Reid thought the pick coming our way this year was more likely to be ~34-36ish rather than 25. A great result for us really.

That's a very good deal for us, let alone what else we were able to do after that trade. Personally, I prefer my team to conduct themselves in a manner that isn't conducive to lop-sided wins at the trade table, if you're happy with the trade that's great. Whilst I would have preferred Bryce to finish his career in navy blue, it is absolutely a best case scenario for us, especially given his personal request, where we are at as a club and what we were able to get for a player of his age.

1. No chance
2. Not just the clubs you listed everyone in the comp would be worried.
3. No chance

I'll add to this to say that had it not been for a friendly Noble at brisbane where we were able to wait for the gibbs deal to resolve before pick 12 came our way for Cameron, most of us are in no doubt that SOS would have demanded picks 10 & 12 from us if we had that pick - instead of the pick 16. So the deal would have got even worse for us

Our forward line is fine for key talls.

We need small forwards and medium forwards who can rotate through the midfield.

Mitch McGovern fits none of the categories I've mentioned in this post.

Have another look.

Particularly Fremantle's round 12 game where a teenage key position forward turned the game.

All while one of the best contested marking forwards in the league was out, Taberner.

So we are fine. I don't consider McCarthy a key position forward.

I was jut going on the utterances of your Coach & the fact you've unsuccessfully tied to get another key forward ? .....even this year, after Taberner got injured ....you really struggled for a big forward target ....Apeness is good, but made of tissue paper....McCarthy is just plain unfit

So who are you hanging you hat on as the next star KF ?? .....I'm confused

Brennan Cox, the south Australian who already plays comparably to McGovern and was a teenager a month ago.

He is the contested marking beast who stole the game away from Adelaide when Freo beat them at Optus this season.

We can directly compare them when Brennan is the same age Mitch was drafted, there's a while to go yet.. But I'm confident Brennan will be a superior player.

Sorry, forgot Cox ......i agree he's a great mark & I loved him at U18 level......but i would say that he'll never be as good as Mitch ......Brennan is a straight ahead runner, with a poor turning circle .....as long as the ball's in front of him, he's great

But with respect Apeness & Cox are similar .......you need a Jay Shultze type or Jack Reiwoldt type ......I think the club was hoping McCarthy could be that player, if he can, great .....but so far he's been disappointing

Have heard some seb rumours. But we need picks and or players now not next year. Plus if the lions keep improving it could be a pick upgrade of less than 10 spots so no thanks. If it were this years first and a third in return i would give it serious thought though

 Seems you might be alone with this thought? ......on "Talking Footy" your urgent needs were outlined as Key Forwards

Also this below, from channel 7 ADEL
Theo Doropoulos on 7 news saying Carlton and Freo are keen and the word over in Melbourne is that the Hawks are keen on Wingard.

Hawks are getting Wingard! Yes please!
Would make sense, given the loss of Rioli ......however Port went all-in this year, if they lose Polec, there's zero chance they want to trade Wingard
