Prediction 2018 trade hypothetical thread

TBH i couldn't really tell you what the Freo needs are other than they generally need more quality in their big's forward of centre, Brennan Cox was pretty good and is young but other than that I think everybody would agree Cam McCathy hasn't fulfilled his 2015 potential he showed at the Giants! He's still only 23 so there is hope but that is fading. Taberner has had his moments but has been injured and is 26 next year.... So my guess is they would be keen to get one of the big forwards in the draft so might be more likely to keep their high end pick, if they get the Lions pick then all bets are off, they may be happy to unload one of the picks.

If the Lions pick comes in I wonder if your original hypothetical is slightly reversed would that be enticing for the Dockers so Dons 2018 2nd(Pick 30) & 2019 1st plus Colyer for Freo's 2018 1st, so in basic terms Freo get back into the 2nd round in 2018 plus get a 1st for next year probably in the range like you said 7-15 and get some cheap fries on the side in Colyer.
GCS hold our 2nd, but we do have GWS' 2nd this year. Though its getting quite late in the draft at that point

I think the deal for Neale could kick this off.

Bris 2018 1st for Neale
EFC 2019 1st & 2nd & Colyer for Freo's 2018 1st
EFC & Freo 2018 1st & GWS' 2018 2nd for Shiel, Setterfield and GWS' 2019 2nd keeps us above board.

Bris lose Pick 4 (gain Neale)
Freo lose Pick 5 & Neale (gain Pick 4, EFC 2019 1st and 2nd round picks, Colyer)
GWS lose Shiel, Setterfield, 2019 2nd (Gain Pick 5, 7, GWS 2018 2nd)
Essendon lose Pick 7, GWS 2018 2nd, EFC 2019 1st & 2nd (Gain Shiel, Setterfield, GWS 2019 2nd)

Dont mind that and i'm no expert but my guess is the AFL wouldn't like us having traded out our 1st rounder for 3 years in a row and based on that we'd only be using 1 second rounder in the same time (GWS 2019 2nd).

Why complicate that? It's effectively two firsts and a second for Shiel and Setterfield. Just trade our 2018 & 2019 firsts and GWS's 2018 second back to them.

We used three firsts in 2015 & 2016. We can trade out our 2018 and 2019 firsts this year.

im just playing. Cant see us going too silly with trades

this seems about right.

Why would Essendon want to weaken their midfield when it was the probably the main reason they didn't make finals this year? If anything won't they be trading in a midfielder.
our forward line was the main reason we didn't make finals. too many scores below 100. missed Daniher and Fantasia.
But yes, we won't be trading mids.

Didn’t Cerra just re-sign? Pretty sure that means he can’t be traded.

Of course he can be traded, every trade has to have the consent of the player though.

Schache re-signed with Brisbane and was traded to the Dogs at the end of that season.

its tuesday. some of us are bored :p

i think the point is Melbourne could afford to consider it now. their list is looking very good.

Weideman played a great game on Friday night but he's played 18 games, there's no reason to trade Hogan.

The talk comes from morons who love a knee jerk reaction.

Melbourne aren't going to (and would be stupid to) trade Hogan.

Nah surely Melbourne hold him.
Even if he leaves after 2019, least Melb could win a flag before hand.
Hogan Mcdonnald & Weiderman is a very nice fwd line.

Freo are gonna be shit again. Training away picks for hogan atm is pointless

Red mist I inadvertently during a keyword search posted that stuff on the crows board for which I apologised to the relevant people but anywhere here it is from Turbocat to explain it.

The AFL this week confirmed to AFL.com.au that unless a club has acquired two first-round picks between 2015-2018, it cannot trade away its first-round selection for 2019. It does not mean we can not trade our R1 2018

. If we trade our 2018 pick... it will also flow onto 2019 and 2020.

If we take two pick this year.. we will have three years where we can trade our R1

This assessment can not happen till post draft..as there is now a In Draft trade system .. if by draft end ..to have not taken 2 R1 picks.. then we fall into a debt..that mean we stay in debt till we have taken 2 R1 in the last 4 years.. this year and next year for example.

Saints Lose : 2019 first round pick
Saints Gain : Hannebery + Swans 2018 second round pick + Pies 2019 second round pick

Swans lose : Hannebery + 2018 Second round pick
Swans Gain : Darcy Moore

Pies Lose : Moore, 2019 second round pick
Pies Gain : Saints 2019 first round pick

Saints probably think they’ll finish the top 8 next year with the acquisition of Hannebery, other experienced players and an easier draw.

I doubt the Saints recruitment and list management team would rely on them finishing top 8. I’d say 9-14 would be the more accurate assessment they would make

Sydney no deal moore isnt worth hannerbery. Moore only worth a second rounder at best with hanners not included

Pay him 800k and he’s only worth a second rounder? Jesus, I now see what happens on the other side of the border.
Where are thecreport sydney offering moore 800k.
Hanners is worth second round alone. Naybe even more.
Moore can hardly get on the park.
Rumour are he isnt leaving for money. Its to get out of lime light of melbourne.
So sydney to loose hanners and a second isnot worth moore alone

saints and pies do.okay but.expect swans wouldnt be happy to give up more than hannebery

Talk of Dees hypothetical and Hogan being expendable (who'd have thought)

Would Freo offer 5 and Cerra?
Would Melbourne take it?
IMO Hogan only gets traded if he requests it. Can’t Melbourne being the party to initiate a trade discussion with Hogan. I’d say the club would almost certainly accept the trade. Possibly replace Cerra with Brayshaw.
