Prediction 2018 trade hypothetical thread

Problem is, you've got to make that choice before the draft - trade out #7 for Wingard, or give up Wingard if he wanted to come for a possibility of Rankine. FWIW, I don't think Rankine will still be there at #7, so you could end up with neither!

Such a choice is dependent on your perceived need and list state.
Yeah that's the problem with not allowing live trading of players. Club needs to take a gamble here, so **** knows what they end up doing here

Hey, if Geelong still want Steven here's a hypothetical trade

Trade 1:

Fremantle receive: Kelly
Geelong receive: Pick 5

Trade 2:
Geelong receive: Steven, future 4th round
St Kilda receive: Pick 5, 2019 first round

Holy crap, not in a million years

Hypothetically, if Wingard does get traded to the Dogs, what does everyone think a realistic price ends up being? Keeping in mind Dogs probably won't want to lose pick 7, can it still happen?
Especially keen on hearing the unbiased views of fans not from Dogs and Port
For port to trade their 'star' player it would take 2 first rounders. One in the top 10. They will want overs because hes contracted. Their have been a number of teams enquiring with wingards management. If teams are smart they will wait till next year and grab him for free.

Maybe take pick 5 out of the 2nd trade and you'd be closer.

Steven has been a consistently very good player over the years and could see cats wanting him if they lose Kelly. However no way Steven is worth 2 firsts. Pick 5 overs for Kelly but if things got pushy could happen with something coming back.

Steven is our best player and contracted until 2020. He has not requested a trade and even if he had the cats would still have to pay overs. The trades that I have suggested may be a little over the top, but St Kilda will not make the Steven trade fair, far from it.

Counter Offer

Geelong trade: Kelly and pick 10
Fremantle trade: Pick 5 and 2019 second round.

This places Kelly about pick 13-14 which is about fair. Geelong can pick up a gun Rankine, Hill or Blakely. Fremantle gets a guy that will do wonders for their list in Kelly. They also get to pick up another gun in Hatley, Hill or Butters.

Trade 2:
Geelong Recieve: Steven
St Kilda Recieve: Pick 5 and 2019 second round, (Fremantle on-traded).

That places Steven around pick 2, (not fair, but again hasn't said I want out and contracted until 2020). Geelong gets St Kilda's best player in Steven. Steven gets to move closer to home. St Kilda gets a gun in Rankine (and some class) or Caldwell. It will free up more salary in and allow St Kilda to find a younger Steven in Dylan Shiel. It also means we can get Menzel, Wingard, Hall, and Tomlinson. Hanners gets his wish and comes back home.

You’ve proven everyone else’s point. If there’s any chance Geelong could get Shiel & Wingard + for the same price as Steven than they won’t be touching Steven with a 10 foot barge pole.

I was saying the Saints would have enough cap room to get Shiel, Wingard +

I have suggested similar for Kelly, both Freo and Geelong peeps werent that happy so its around the mark.

I think if you can get pick 5 for a 29 year-old Jack Steven you should take it and run. As good as he is, his age limits his value

I hope that's a troll because that is so incredibly unbalanced. Pick 5 is over for Kelly, then you try to suggest Geelong giving up Pick 5 AND a future second for Steven? Saints making out like bandits, Freo getting ****ed hard.
Wouldn't happen in a million years

Only if you catch the freo and geelong list managers out at a party with ben cousins would they agree to that

Trade 1 sounds good. trade 2 no way

Obviously a lot to play out. But if Brisbane wants Lachie as much as they appear to then perhaps they trade their first this year and their first next year in return for Neale and Freo's 2019 second. Freo then trade the Brisbane 2019 for Timothy Kelly and Geelong 2018 third rounder. Geelong enter the 2018 draft with the future Brisbane first and then bid on a player in the 10 -14 player range as future picks can be traded but not players in live trading. Unlike with Mitch McGovern both Freo and Geelong can afford to play hardball at the trade table as both Kelly and Lachie probably wouldnt have an issue staying at their club for an extra year if a deal could not be worked out.

More realistic would be:
Gee
Out: Kelly, 2nd Rd
IN: Steven
FRE:
Out: Pick 5
In: Kelly, Gee 2nd Rd
ST:
OUT: Steven
In: Pick 5

I think his actual value is in the mid teens. Suspect it will probably be pick 7 that does it though.
