What would Dylan Clarke cost if he was traded right now? He can’t get a game for Essendon despite his good form. He’s dominating in the VFL and would be close to leading the JJ Liston Trophy award.
signed an extension through the week. only for a year though.
but in that time, we will know if he's making the jump or not. i'd say he will. He may not be a pretty kick. But if he can do the body work he did on the geelong mids and get the ball to the likes of Merrett and Langford, disposal is less an issue.

plenty of brownlow winners haven't been able to kick. get on him! :p

will replace Myers by 2019/2020 in our midfield.

Could he end up being a similar type of player to Sam Menegola?

An interesting trade meri-go-round might be:

Gaff -> St Kilda
Westcoast -> 1st round compo

Lycett -> Geelong
Westcoast -> End of 1st compo

Westcoast -> Tim Kelly + Rhys Stanley
Geelong -> 1st round compo + 2rd round pick

Geelong won't be keen to lose Kelly but if he wants to go home with his wife and newborn twins wanting support, you can't do too much to stand in his way.
Stanley?

Go away.

Why would Stanley interest WC? I think they can cover the loss of Lycett with a younger guy on their list or perhaps Vardy. I guess they may be vulnerable if Nic Nat goes down after losing him. Anyway , I suspect we keep him and not re contract Smith

Anyone on our list. All offers considered. Prefer to keep billings, gresham, webster, acres, carlisle, steven, membrey, battle, marshall, coffield and clark. Discuss

Why wouldnt it just be Lycett for kelly.

he hasn't been close to AFL standard until recently.
Essendon have a tendency to make the kids earn it
Francis was ready this week, if not the week before
Ridley was ready earlier than his debut. As was Redman, as was Guelfi.
Langford spent a long time in the VFL getting ready.

We back the seniors well past their tenable periods.

Clarke will break into the side this year for a few more games, readying him for 2019 where i think he plays from rd1.

Big if, but IF we sign Sloane...he may be delayed for longer.
or leaves after 2019.
With clarke on the list, i think we'd be stupid to get Sloane if Adelaide match. He's a great freebie, but at 29 at the start of 2019.
im not sure he comes to us in our window.
Lynch & Lycett are better age profile targets for us.

I doubt WCE will want Stanley and he doesn't have R2 value (more like pick 50ish) even if they did.

Pick 15ish and Lycett for Kelly is an interesting offer although Geelong might be worried an FS bid would come in that range.

You can bet..anyone you would prefer to keep is the players that other would be interested in. Future R2 and fringe player for Billings.

Yeah i suspected as much. I rate billings (possibly optimistically) top 3 on our list and one of few with big upside so 2nd rounder wouldn't be worth it for us

1. I never said Stanley was worth a 2nd.
2. Trading for Stanley avoids offsetting against free agents lost. A cheap backup that doesn't lose a draft pick due to trade but adds some experienced cover
3. Lycett is a free agent that might generate an end of 1st round draft pick
4. I'm basically saying Kelly is worth 18 + 35. Stanley is just thrown in for convenience.

I get that but re point 4 almost every club would take pick 35 over Stanley.
